Protein adenosine diphosphate (ADP)-ribosylation participates in various pivotal cellular events. Its readers and erasers play key roles in modulating ADP-ribosylation-based signaling pathways. Unambiguous assignments of readers and erasers to individual ADP-ribosylated proteins provide insightful knowledge on ADP-ribosylation biology and require the development of tools and technologies for this goal. Herein, we report the design and the synthesis of a nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) carrying a photoactive and a clickable group. Functioning as a substrate for poly-ADP-ribosylation (PARylation), this NAD mimic with dually modified adenine enables covalent crosslinking and labeling of proteins bound to PARylation, representing a new photoaffinity probe for studying this critical post-translational modification.

We present the synthesis, characterization, and photophysical properties of two pyrene-modified () pincer bismuth complexes, where the pyrenyl residues are either part of the cyclometalating pincer ligand (1) or bound as monodentate ligands to the Bi ion (2). Both complexes are dually emissive at 77 K. For complex 2, pyrenyl phosphorescence persists at r.

Metal-organic framework (MOF)-derived transition metal compounds and their composites have attracted great interest for applications in energy conversion and storage. In this work, hexagonal micro-prisms of Ni-doped CoTiO composited with amorphous carbon (NiCTO/C) were synthesized using Ti-Co-based MOFs as precursors. The experimental results indicate the substitutional doping of Ni for Co in CoTiO (CTO), leading to improved conductivity, as further confirmed by density functional theory calculations.

The poor mechanics and functionality of natural-polymer hydrogels from gellan gum (GG) prohibit their practical application, despite the intrinsic thermo-reversible gelation nature, structural and quality consistency, biocompatibility, biodegradability and sustainability of microbial fermentation-produced GG. Herein, a dual-reinforcing strategy, i.e.

Background: Medical school involves high expectations of medical students, which may increase their risk for burnout. Physical activity (PA) and sedentary behaviour (SB) are modifiable risk factors for burnout. However, medical students are insufficiently taught about PA and SB and may therefore be less likely to meet guideline-recommended levels of these two movement behaviours or promote them in practice.

The phosphoethanolamine transferase EptA utilizes phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) in the bacterial cell membrane to modify the structure of lipopolysaccharide, thereby conferring antimicrobial resistance on Gram-negative pathogens. Previous studies have indicated that excessive consumption of PE can disrupt the cell membrane, leading to cell death. This implies the presence of a regulatory mechanism for EptA catalysis to maintain a balance between antimicrobial resistance and bacterial growth.
