The method of intravenous administration of UV-irradiated donor plasma to patients with jaundice of different genesis has been tested in the experiments on rats and used clinically in 20 patients. Biochemical and morphological studies have shown that such treatment causes stable improvement in the liver functional state.

Disinfection is known to greatly alter bacterial characteristics in water, and high horizontal gene transfer (HGT) frequency occurs in eutrophic conditions. Interestingly, these two seemingly irrelevant phenomena were closely linked by a lagging response of the increased conjugation frequency probably via daily water disinfection in this study. Three disinfection methods (UV, chlorine, and UV/chlorine) were selected to investigate the increased frequency of conjugation of ARGs during the stage of continuing culture after disinfection.

Systemic suppression of adaptive immune responses is a major way in which UV radiation contributes to skin cancer development. Immune suppression is also likely to explain how UV protects from some autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis. However, the mechanisms underlying UV-mediated systemic immune suppression are not well understood.

To elucidate the complex molecular mechanisms underlying the adverse effects UV radiation (UVR) on skin homeostasis, we performed multi-omics studies to characterize UV-induced genetic and epigenetic changes. Human keratinocytes from a single donor treated with or without UVR were analyzed by RNA-seq, exome-seq, and H3K27ac ChIP-seq at 4 h and 72 h following UVR. Compared to the relatively moderate mutagenic effects of UVR, acute UV exposure induced substantial epigenomic and transcriptomic alterations, illuminating a previously underappreciated role of epigenomic and transcriptomic instability in skin pathogenesis.

It was demonstrated that during incubation of UV-irradiated lymphocytes the change of their populational and sub-populational composition occurs. Expression of complexes of CD3, CD 19,.

Ultraviolet (UV) irradiation prior to antigen immunization is employed to induce antigen-specific regulatory T cells (Tregs). UV-induced Tregs demonstrate unique bystander suppression, although antigen-specific activation is required initially. We previously reported the phenotype of alloantigen-specific transferable Tregs induced by UV-B irradiation after immunization was the same as T regulatory type 1-like CD4(+) T cells, with antigen-specific interleukin (IL)-10 production.
