Subcutaneous phaeohyphomycosis is the most common manifestation and presents as a subcutaneous nodule or cystic lesions and abscesses. It usually results from traumatic implantation of the saprophytic fungus from soil and vegetative matter; therefore, the commonest sites of infection are the extremities.
