Skin aging is divided into intrinsic and extrinsic aging, encompassing pigmentary, vascular, connective tissue, and fat tissue aspects that contribute to this complex process. Aging is genetically determined but is influenced by environmental factors such as ultraviolet radiation, air pollution, and smoking. Skin aging has not only cosmetic but also functional implications, as the loss of the extracellular matrix, especially hyaluronate, impairs the mechanical functions of the skin. Hyaluronate, which stabilizes skin structures, acts as a cushion and reduces susceptibility to skin tears. Dermatoporosis, a term coined by Saurat, describes the functional dimension of skin aging, manifesting in various stages from skin atrophy to severe complications like skin necrosis. It is increasingly observed in older patients, particularly from age 70 onwards. Prevalence ranges from 22% in women to 38% in men, with higher rates in patients undergoing chronic steroid therapy and certain conditions. Diagnosis is made through clinical examination and skin thickness measurement via ultrasound. Prevention involves limiting exposure to harmful factors and using specific treatments such as hyaluronic acid and topical retinoids to improve skin health.

Background: Facial aging involves multifactorial changes affecting the bone, superficial musculoaponeurotic system, fat pads, and skin, primarily manifesting as the downward displacement of these structures. The transtemporal endoscopic deep plane face lift (TEDPF) suggests a vertical lifting method, targeting these issues without a preauricular incision.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 140 patients (133 women and 7 men) 33-67 years of age who underwent TEDPF from February 2020 to March 2023.

Objectives: Both intrinsic and extrinsic factors cause skin aging. Intrinsic aging is characterized by decreased collagen density, particularly collagen types I (COL1A1) and III (COL3A1), and an increase in the COL1/COL3 ratio. Extrinsic aging, primarily due to ultraviolet light exposure, leads to photoaging, which causes collagen fragmentation and reduced production, leading to skin sagging.

Tissue factor pathway inhibitor 2 (TFPI2) is known to regulate the proliferation of various cell types and tumor tissues; however, its role in the process of skin aging has not been elucidated. In this study, we identify TFPI2 as a potential antagonist of aging. Our findings indicate that TFPI2 expression is downregulated in aging skin tissues and senescent human dermal fibroblasts (HDFs), and that the depletion of TFPI2 accelerates the senescence of HDFs and the aging of skin.

Senescent melanocytes have been suggested to play a role in the development of ageing-associated pigmentary changes and skin ageing. Here, we assessed the senolytic capacity of recognised senolytic chemicals and natural compounds in UV-irradiated senescent melanocytes. Among the tested agents, only ABT-737 and ABT-263 showed a significant reduction in the number of SA-β-Gal-positive senescent melanocytes and in the expressions of p16 and p21.
