Introduction: The clinical management of the inherited bleeding disorder von Willebrand disease (VWD) focuses on normalizing circulating levels of von Willebrand factor (VWF) and factor VIII (FVIII) to prevent or control bleeding events. The heterogeneous nature of VWD, however, complicates effective disease management and development of universal treatment guidelines.
Areas Covered: The current treatment modalities of VWD and their limitations are described and why this prompts the development of new treatment approaches.

Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a significant morbidity following major open abdominal surgery. While there are clear recommendations for perioperative and post-discharge VTE chemoprophylaxis in general surgery, guidance for vascular patients is unclear. We compared the incidence of VTE in vascular versus general surgery cases and then investigated the timing of VTE in vascular patients.

Introduction And Importance: Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (ALHE) is a rare benign vascular tumor characterized by abnormal endothelial proliferation and inflammatory cell infiltration, primarily affecting the head and neck region. The diverse clinical presentations of ALHE pose significant diagnostic challenges, often leading to misdiagnosis. Accurate histopathological examination is crucial for differentiating ALHE from other vascular lesions and guiding appropriate treatment.

Purpose: We compared the radiographic union and magnitude of humpback deformity correction when using different vascularized bone grafts (VBGs) and nonvascularized bone grafts (NVBGs) in the treatment of unstable scaphoid nonunions (USNUs).
Methods: This was a retrospective radiographic review of 93 patients with an USNU treated between 2013 and 2022 at a single center by a single surgeon. Inclusion criteria included skeletally mature patients with radiographic evidence of an USNU resulting from failure of either nonsurgical or operative treatment.
