Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) is a burgeoning and newfangled therapy modality with great application potential. Sonosensitizers are essential factors used to ensure the effectiveness of SDT. For the past few years, a lot of scientists have discovered many valid ways to refine and improve the performance of SDT. Among these methods, modulating the electronic band structure of sonosensitizers is one of the eminent measures to improve SDT, but relevant research studies on this are still unsatisfactory for actual transformation. Herein, this review provides a brief and comprehensive introduction of common ways to modulate electronic band structure, such as forming defects, doping, piezoelectric effect and heterostructure. Then, some nanomaterials with excellent properties that can be used as a sonosensitizer to enhance the SDT effect by modulating electronic band structure are overviewed, such as Ti-based, Zn-based, Bi-based, noble metal-based and MOF-based nanomaterials. At the same time, this paper also discusses the problems and challenges that may be encountered in the future application progress of SDT. In conclusion, the strategy of enhancing SDT through modulating electronic band structure will promote the rapid development of nanomedicine and provide a great research direction for SDT.

The design of cathode/electrolyte interfaces in high-energy density Li-ion batteries is critical to protect the surface against undesirable oxygen release from the cathodes when batteries are charged to high voltage. However, the involvement of the engineered interface in the cationic and anionic redox reactions associated with (de-)lithiation is often ignored, mostly due to the difficulty to separate these processes from chemical/catalytic reactions at the cathode/electrolyte interface. Here, a new electron energy band diagrams concept is developed that includes the examination of the electrochemical- and ionization- potentials evolution upon batteries cycling.

Lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) offer high energy density and environmental benefits hampered by the shuttle effect related to sluggish redox reactions of long-chain lithium polysulfides (LiPSs). However, the fashion modification of the d-band center in separators is still ineffective, wherein the mechanism understanding always relies on theoretical calculations. This study visibly probed the evolution of the Co 3d-band center during charge and discharge using advanced inverse photoemission spectroscopy/ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy (IPES/UPS), which offers reliable evidence and are consistent well with theoretical calculations.

Colonoscopy is a valuable tool for colorectal cancer screening and health checkups, with increasing utilization annually. Assisted entry is a standard procedure during electronic colonoscopy. In China, most clinically assisted colonoscopy procedures involve a nurse directly applying abdominal pressure to the patient's abdomen.

In this article an 8-port annular ring-shaped MIMO antenna for 5G and 5G advanced applications is presented. An annular ring on the radiating plane and novel isolator structure on the ground plane are etched over a Rogers RT/Duorid (5870 tm) substrate to achieve high performance antenna for mm wave applications. A systematic study is performed, and an optimized single port antenna (Design-4) is selected among Designs (1-4).

In this study, we have investigated the surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra of myoglobin on silver substrates with different morphology. The aim was to determine the optimal parameters of analyte and substrate preparation for obtaining of high-amplitude SERS spectra of proteins. It is shown that not only the morphology of the silver film, but also the method of analyte molecules deposition on the SERS substrate plays an important role.
