In the 2022 European Society of Cardiology/European Respiratory Society (ESC/ERS) guidelines, the hemodynamic definition of pulmonary hypertension (PH) was revised to mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP)>20 mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa) at rest. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of the revised hemodynamic definition on the diagnosis of PH. Patients with dyspnea or highly suspected PH who underwent right heart catheterization (RHC) in Beijing Anzhen hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University from September 2021 to October 2022 were enrolled retrospectively. According to resting hemodynamics, the patients were divided into 3 groups: no-PH (mPAP≤20 mmHg) group, low-pressure PH (20 mmHg

Objectives: A best evidence topic was written according to a structured protocol described in ICVTS. The question addressed was: "In patients with vasoplegic syndrome after cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), does adjunctive methylene blue improve outcomes including reduced mortality, morbidity and vasopressor requirements?"

Methods: Ovid Medline was searched using a reported search algorithm. Articles that represented the best evidence to answer the clinical question were selected, tabulated and discussed.

Background: Blood pressure (BP) control following stroke is important but currently sub-optimal. This trial aimed to determine whether self-monitoring of hypertension with telemonitoring and a treatment escalation protocol, results in lower BP than usual care in people with previous stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA).

Methods: Unblinded randomised controlled trial, comparing a BP telemonitoring-based intervention with control (usual care) for hypertension management in 12 primary care practices in England.

The correlation between Fischer's ratio and the risk of cardiac dysfunction in heart failure patients.

BMC Cardiovasc Disord

Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Rui Jin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, 200025, People's Republic of China.

Backgrounds: Due to the high mortality and hospitalization rate in chronic heart failure (HF), it is of great significance to study myocardial nutrition conditions. Amino acids (AAs) are essential nutrient metabolites for cell development and survival. This study aims to investigate the associations and prognostic value of plasma branched-chain amino acid/aromatic amino acid ratio (Fischer's ratio, FR) in patients with left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) ≤ 50%.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a complex and heterogeneous cardiac disorder, often complicated by cardiogenic shock, a life-threatening condition marked by severe cardiac output failure. Managing cardiogenic shock in HCM patients presents unique challenges due to the distinct pathophysiology of the disease, which includes dynamic left ventricular outflow tract obstruction, diastolic dysfunction, and myocardial ischemia. This review discusses current and emerging therapeutic strategies tailored to address the complexities of HCM-associated cardiogenic shock and other diseases with similar pathophysiology that provoke left ventricular outflow tract obstruction.

Modeling fibrous tissue for vascular fluid-structure interaction analysis poses significant challenges due to the lack of effective tools for preparing simulation data from medical images. This limitation hinders the physiologically realistic modeling of vasculature and its use in clinical settings. Leveraging an established lumen modeling strategy, we propose a comprehensive pipeline for generating thick-walled artery models.
