A core assumption in decision neuroscience is that individuals decide between options by comparing option-specific subjective reward values. Psychological accounts challenge this view and suggest that decisions are better explained by comparisons between choice attributes than by comparisons between option-specific values, casting doubts on the interpretation of activation in the neural reward system as subjective value signals. Here, we provide neuroimaging and pharmacological evidence that value-related neural activity follows the value comparison strategy employed by an individual on the psychological level. Neural model comparisons reveal that activation in the striatum, rather than generally reflecting attribute-wise or option-wise value comparisons, reflects the value comparison strategy that provides the best explanation for an individual's choice behavior. Strikingly, manipulating activation in the dopaminergic reward system reveals that dopamine antagonism counteracts the engagement in an individual's dominant value comparison strategy. Together, our findings provide evidence for the biological plausibility of psychological accounts of decision making and emphasize the importance of neural model comparisons to prevent misinterpretations of brain activation.

Nutrient enrichment of water bodies can lead to eutrophication, which poses a global threat to freshwater ecosystems, affecting biodiversity and water quality. While human activities have accelerated eutrophication, climate change further complicates the dynamics of nutrient cycling and ecosystem responses. Here, we provide global, spatially explicit freshwater eutrophication characterization factors, at an annual resolution from 2021 up to 2099 based on eight different climate change scenarios.

Multilevel thresholding image segmentation is one of the widely used image segmentation methods, and it is also an important means of medical image preprocessing. Replacing the original costly exhaustive search approach, swarm intelligent optimization algorithms are recently used to determine the optimal thresholds for medical image, and medical images tend to have higher bit depth. Aiming at the drawbacks of premature convergence of existing optimization algorithms for high-bit depth image segmentation, this paper presents a pyramid particle swarm optimization based on complementary inertia weights (CIWP-PSO), and the Kapur entropy is employed as the optimization objective.

Porous organic polymers have shown great potential in photocatalytic CO2 reduction due to their unique tunable structure favoring gas adsorption and metal sites integration. However, efficient photocatalysis in porous polymers is greatly limited by the low surface reactivity and electron mobility of bulk structure. Introduction: Ultrasound (US)-guided axillary vein puncture is a safe and effective approach for cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) implantation, and it is highly recommended by the current consensus document. However, only reports on small populations are available in the current literature regarding the comparison of this technique with other traditional approaches (subclavian vein blind puncture and cephalic vein surgical cutdown).
Purpose: We aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of US- guided axillary vein puncture using a microintroducer kit for CIED implantation as compared to the aforementioned traditional approaches.
