We analysed the influence of the mother's age on the weight of the newborn of a total of 7.715 newborn infants (3.922 boys and 3.793 girls). Under consideration of further age-depending factors (parity, weight of the mother) we could not find any statistically significant influence of the mother's age on the birth weight of her child. On the basis of data of 7.263 births we investigated the correlation between duration of pregnancy and the mother's age. The result was that contrary to what can be found in the literature the bearing periods over the whole of the mothers' age were constant, and thus no increased rate of prematures in juvenile pregnant women could be ascertained.
