The clinical and pathological features of 11 Hereford calves with neuraxial oedema with and without hypomyelinogenesis are described. Calves were affected at birth, recumbent and showed intermittent extensor spasm and hyperaesthesia. Nystagmus was noted in six cases. Pathologically, vacuolation of the central nervous system was seen in all cases. In two calves of horned Hereford stock this was restricted to white matter areas, while in the remaining calves of polled Hereford origin it was distributed in both white and grey matter. Hypomyelinogenesis was also a feature of this latter group of calves.

Anaesthesia for kidney transplant in a patient with severe mitral regurgitation is a real challenge given the need for judicious haemodynamic management to avoid pulmonary oedema and maximise reperfusion of the transplanted organ. This is the first experience described in the literature of continuous spinal anaesthesia in a patient with chronic severe mitral regurgitation undergoing cadaver donor kidney transplant. Transthoracic echocardiography monitoring was used during the procedure to avoid aggravating the patient's mitral regurgitation.

Purpose Of Review: This review provides insight into recent clinical studies involving septic peri-operative patients and highlights gaps in understanding fluid management. The aim is to enhance the understanding of safe fluid resuscitation to optimize peri-operative outcomes and reduce complications.
Recent Findings: Recent research shows adverse surgical and clinical outcomes with both under- and over-hydration of peri-operative patients.

Introduction: Anesthesiologists play an important role in the management of labor and delivery during acute malaria infection. The peripartum anesthesia considerations for such cases remain unclear.
Findings: Important peripartum considerations include the severity of thrombocytopenia and coagulopathy, hemodynamic status and cardiac disease, and the likelihood of central nervous system (CNS) involvement.

HELLP (Hemolysis, Elevated Liver enzymes, Low Platelets) Syndrome is a rare but serious complication of pregnancy that can lead to disseminated intravascular coagulation, pulmonary edema, respiratory failure, hepatic and renal injury, and death if not recognized and treated promptly. A 36-year-old nulligravid (G0) active duty Marine at 36 weeks and 1 day gestation with dichorionic diamniotic twins presented to triage for routine cervical examination found to have elevated blood pressures and symptomatic thrombocytopenia, with a suspected diagnosis of HELLP. A multidisciplinary decision was made by anesthesiology, obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics to deliver the twins to avoid any further complications.
