. Case management, which is defined as a fully collaborative process that includes evaluation, planning, execution, coordination and supervision, has been widely used in the field of chronic diseases. However, the clinical effect of case management in pediatric patients with congenital heart disease (CHD) is unclear. This study was to explore the effects of case management model in pediatric patients with CHD. . A total of 110 pediatric CHD patients referred to our center from January 2018 to January 2020 were enrolled for analysis. Patients were randomly assigned to a case management (experimental) group or a conventional nursing (control) group. Patient satisfaction, quality of life, and clinical outcomes were compared between the 2 groups. . Compared with that in the control group, patient satisfaction rate was significantly greater in the experimental group. Furthermore, the experimental group showed more significant improvement in quality of life than the control group did (73.8 ± 12.3 vs 66.5 ± 14.2, < .001). In addition, the readmission rate in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group (5% vs 20%, = .022). . Case management mode can be effectively applied in pediatric patients with CHD, which can improve patient satisfaction rate, health-related quality of life and lower the readmission rate.

Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the hip, a rare cause of pelvic pain in the third trimester of pregnancy, often presents with nonspecific symptoms that resemble common musculoskeletal conditions. This ambiguity, coupled with concerns about the safety of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) during pregnancy, can hinder timely diagnosis. We report a unique case of a 32-year-old primigravida diagnosed with a hip fracture and bilateral AVN of the femoral head in the immediate postpartum period, a complication seemingly not previously documented in pregnant patients.

Ulnar artery aneurysms are extremely rare and are mainly associated with hypothenar hammer syndrome, an ischemic disorder of the hand resulting from mechanical and repetitive trauma to the hypothenar region. The ulnar artery is hit against the hook of the hamate bone, causing damage to the vessel wall and leading to occlusion or formation of an aneurysm. We describe the case of a truck driver who underwent resection of an ulnar artery aneurysm in the right hand and reconstruction using end-to-end anastomosis with no complications or recurrence.
