Introduction: , a zoonotic pathogen causing gastroenteritis, lacks a preventive vaccine. Passive immunization with IgY antibodies derived from immunized chickens has shown potential for treating bacterial infections. This study investigated the therapeutic efficacy of entrapped IgY targeting recombinant SipD and LptD proteins from Typhimurium.

Methods: The recombinant protein was expressed in BL21 (DE3) and purified using Ni-NTA affinity chromatography. Hens were immunized with the purified protein, and the resulting IgY was entrapped into alginate nanoparticles. The shape of spherical nanoparticles and their size in the nanometer range were determined by SEM and DLS analysis. The therapeutic efficacy of free and alginate-entrapped IgY against Typhimurium was evaluated in mice at 1, 50, and 100 LD bacterial doses.

Results: The purified IgY concentration in each egg yolk was 6 mg/ml (35 mg/egg). Physicochemical and structural characterization revealed spherical nanoparticles with a diameter of 157.1 nm and a negatively charged surface (zeta potential of -35.6 mV). The loading efficiency of IgY into alginate nanoparticles was 95.5 %. In a challenge test with 100 LD of . Typhimurium, all mice receiving alginate-entrapped IgY survived, whereas half of the mice receiving non-entrapped IgY died within 7 days.

Conclusion: Our results indicate that IgY antibodies entrapped in alginate nanoparticles may offer therapeutic effect against . Typhimurium infection.

Hemostasis is the initial step in wound healing, yet significant challenges, such as massive bleeding and infection, often arise. In this study, we developed amphiphilic biodegradable polyester-based segmented polyurethane (SPU) microspheres modified with epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG)-Ag nanoparticles and calcium-alginate cross-linking shell, combining blood absorption with the pro-coagulation properties of Ca and the negative charge of EGCG for synergistic hemostatic effects across various stages of the coagulation cascade. The in vitro blood clotting time of the SPU@EAg@CaAlg microsphere (328.

Gastric ulcer (GU), a common digestive system disorder in clinical practice, often arises from excessive alcohol consumption and other factors that irritate the gastric mucosa. Effective treatment of GU remains challenging due to the poor targeting, limited efficacy, and significant side effects associated with current therapeutic approaches. To address these limitations, we developed a microenvironment-responsive hydrogel composed of sodium alginate (SA) and chitosan (CS), incorporating MnO nanoparticles and pachymic acid (PA).

In this study, pH-responsive nanocomposite films with high barrier properties were obtained by the addition of a mixture of methyl red and bromothymol blue to the inner film and Silicon dioxide nanoparticles (nano-SiO) to the outer film matrix. The incorporation of nano-SiO resulted in a notable reduction in the oxygen permeability coefficient and water vapor transmission rate, accompanied by an enhancement in the UV barrier and tensile strength. In comparison with the control sample (0 % nano-SiO), the film containing 1 % nano-SiO exhibited a 57.
