The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the critical need for pathogen detection methods that offer both low detection limits and rapid results. Despite advancements in simplifying and enhancing nucleic acid amplification techniques, immunochemical methods remain the preferred methods for mass testing. These methods eliminate the need for specialized laboratories and highly skilled personnel, making home testing feasible.

Background: Olfactory deficits are predictive of cognitive decline and dementia. Previous studies have linked brain magnetic resonance imaging markers of neurodegeneration to olfactory deficits in aging; however, these studies analyzed cross-sectional data for markers, olfaction, or both. Furthermore, potential cerebrovascular contributions to understanding why olfactory deficits predict dementia remain unexplored.

Our goal was to compare the usefulness of longitudinal white matter changes in the commonly available diffusion MRI measures for VCID prevention trials.
Method: We included 718 participants over 50 years of age (mean age: 71.

Background: Studies on plasma biomarkers have shown promising results for Alzheimer's disease(AD) neuropathology in a research setting, but their associations to neuropsychological(NP) tests have not been extensively studied in clinical cohorts. The main aim was to investigate associations between NP, plasma biomarkers and amyloid accumulation in the brain(Aβ-PET).
Method: We quantified plasma biomarkers (tau phosphorylated at 217, 181 and 231, glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP) and neurofilament-light(NFL)) by single molecular array in 126 patients (age=65±8) who were admitted to the Clinic for Cognitive Disorders, Karolinska University Hospital.

Hilar Cholangiocarcinoma (h-CCA) originates from the epithelial cells, which characters as longitudinal growth along the bile ducts and invasion of peripheral vascular nerves. Due to the tumours insidious progression and usually become advanced stage disease at presentation, patients' mortality could parallel incidence rates. For patients who are not amenable to resection, systemic therapy and palliative treatment become the way to go.
