Aglanoideas A-C (1-3), three undescribed sesquiterpenes and eleven known compounds (4-14) were isolated from the leaves of Aglaia elaeagnoidea. Their structures including absolute configurations were characterized by using IR, HR-ESI-MS, NMR, and experimental and calculating ECD methods. Compounds 3-5, and 7 showed moderate nitric oxide inhibitory activity with IC values ranging from 53.7 to 72.5 μM.

Autophagy is a self-eating pathway for maintaining normal cellular physiology, while dysregulation of autophagy is associated with cancer progression. Autophagy-related 4B gene (ATG4B) is a cysteine protease to regulate autophagosome formation and is positively correlated with poor prognosis of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. An increasing number of reports have implied that ATG4B might be an attractive drug target for CRC.

Six previously undescribed 2, 9-deoxyflavonoids (1/2a, 1/2b, 6, and 7), along with six known compounds (3-5, and 8-10), were isolated from the twigs and leaves of Aglaia odorata. Their structures were determined by a combination of spectral analysis, ECD calculation and enzymatic hydrolysis assay. Surprisingly, (±) aglaindanone E (11a, 11b) were unexpectedly formed as the derivatives of compounds 3-6 when exposed to ambient natural light.
