The management of congenital syndactylies often requires the use of a full-thickness skin graft to reconstruct the affected web space. Traditionally, full-thickness skin grafts are harvested from the groin region, but using the anterior aspect of the wrist may offers benefits in terms of scar quality while simplifying surgical time. This descriptive study evaluates scar quality (at donor and recipient site) associated with full-thickness skin graft harvested from the volar wrist in syndactyly release. We conducted a retrospective single-center study including patients who underwent syndactyly release with full-thickness skin graft harvested from the anterior wrist. Scar assessment was performed using the Observer Scar Assesment Scale, the Vancouver Scar Scale and the Withey Score. Overall, our results show high scores for scars at both donor and recipient sites. In conclusion, harvesting full-thickness skin graft from the volar wrist in syndactyly release is a simple and effective option for covering defects on the digits, while producing high-quality scars.

Bacterial infections impede skin wound healing, and antibacterial hydrogels have garnered significant attention in the field of wound care due to their combined therapeutic effects. In this study, an intelligent, responsive AC-Gel@Cur-Au hydrogel was developed using temperature-sensitive agarose and pH-responsive chitosan as the structural framework, infused with Gel@Cur and AuNR. The AC-Gel@Cur-Au hydrogels demonstrated excellent mechanical properties, swelling capacity, tissue adhesion, and biodegradability.

Multifunctional dual-layer wound dressings hold significant promise for comprehensive full-thickness wound management by closely mimicking the native skin structure and features. Herein, we employed an innovative approach utilizing electrospinning techniques to develop a dual-layer dressing comprising a microfibrous Ecoflex®-Vanillin (Ex-Vnil) top layer (TL) and a nanofibrous Soluplus®-Insulin-like growth factor-1 (Sol-IGF1) bottom layer (BL). Purpose: To report the experience with an alternative to the upper eyelid pentagonal wedge resection technique which results in improved cosmesis due to a greater alignment of incisions with relaxed skin tension lines.
Methods: A retrospective review of all patients who underwent the T-shaped wedge resection by the authors from 2009 to 2017. A horizontal eyelid crease incision is made across the upper eyelid skin.
