Weapon carrying and brandishing among youth is a serious public health issue. Recent data from the Centers for Disease Control's Youth Risk Behavior Survey suggests that as many as 1 in 15 male and 1 in 50 female students have carried a gun for nonrecreational purposes within the past 12 months. When examining weapon carrying more broadly, approximately one in eight adolescents report this behavior in the past 30 days alone.

The 2021 KDIGO clinical practice guideline for the management of blood pressure (BP) in chronic kidney disease (CKD) provided significant practice-changing recommendations for the care of both adult and paediatric CKD patients not receiving dialysis. The purpose of this review is to contextualise these recommendations and evaluate their applicability to the Australian and New Zealand context. Key updates presented in this guideline relate to measurement techniques, with a strong recommendation for standardised office BP measurement, as opposed to routine office BP measurement.

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into pharmacy education offers transformative opportunities but also introduces significant challenges. This commentary explores whether AI will reshape or deform pharmacy education by analyzing its effects on personalized learning, complex concept comprehension, simulation-based clinical training, interprofessional education, and administrative efficiency. While AI-driven tools provide adaptive learning experiences, immersive visualizations, and streamlined administrative processes, concerns persist about overreliance on technology, skill atrophy, ethical and legal challenges, erosion of humanistic skills, inequities stemming from the digital divide, and faculty preparedness.

The commentary examines the ongoing barriers to accessing evidence-based treatments for eating disorders and considers the example of Australian initiatives like the Medicare Benefit Scheme's Eating Disorder Plan, which offers subsidized psychological and dietetic services. A recent review of the plan revealed uptake has been low, with significant disparities in access, particularly in underserved populations and those in rural and remote areas.
