The promise of curative outcomes for life-limiting diseases using cell therapies is starting to become a reality, not only for patients with end-stage cancer, but also increasingly for regenerative therapies, including dentistry, ocular, neurodegenerative, and cardiac diseases. The introduction of often genetically modified cells into a patient can come with an extensive range of safety considerations. From an immune perspective, cell-based therapies carry inherent consequences and consideration of factors, such as the cell source (donor-derived autologous cells versus allogeneic cells), the intrinsic cellular nature of the therapy, and engineering/manufacturing methods, all of which influence the likelihood of inducing unwanted immune responses. Here, we provide an overview of the potential immune safety risks associated with cell therapies and explore possible mitigation approaches.

Introduction: Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a severe neurological disease characterized by significant motor, sensory, and autonomic dysfunctions. SCI is a major global disability cause, often resulting in long-term neurological impairments due to the impeded regeneration and remyelination of axons. A SCI interferes with communication between the brain and the spinal cord networks that control neurological functions.
Background: Esophageal cancer, particularly esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), is a leading cause of cancer-related death and has a poor prognosis. Despite the advancements in multidisciplinary therapies, resistance to conventional treatments warrants the development of novel therapeutic strategies. Ferroptosis, a form of cell death dependent on intracellular iron, has emerged as a potential mechanism for targeting cancer cells resistant to apoptosis.
Kidney diseases, including acute kidney injury (AKI) and chronic kidney disease (CKD), pose a significant global health challenge, with high morbidity and mortality rates driven by rising prevalence of risk factors such as diabetes and hypertension. Current therapeutic strategies are often limited, prompting the exploration of advanced cell therapies as potential solutions. Introduction: Pediatric sarcomas, including osteosarcoma (OS), Ewing sarcoma (EwS) and rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) carry low somatic mutational burden and low MHC-I expression, posing a challenge for T cell therapies. Our previous study showed that mediators of monocyte maturation sensitized the EwS cell line A673 to lysis by HLA-A*02:01/CHM1-specific allorestricted T cell receptor (TCR) transgenic CD8 T cells (CHM1 CD8 T cells).
Methods: In this study, we tested a panel of monocyte maturation cytokines for their ability to upregulate immunogenic cell surface markers on OS, EwS and RMS cell lines, using flow cytometry.
Indian tick typhus is an infectious disease caused by intracellular gram-negative bacteria (). The bacterium is transmitted to humans through bite of infected ticks and sometimes by lice, fleas or mites. The disease is restricted to some areas with few cases but in last decade it is re-emerging with large number of cases from different areas of India.
