The E6 and E7 proteins of the high risk human papillomaviruses (HR HPVs) play a key role in the oncogenesis associated with papillomavirus infection. Data on the variability of these proteins are limited, and the factors affecting their variability are still poorly understood. We analyzed the variability of the currently known sequences of the HPV type 16 (HPV16) E6 and E7 proteins, taking into account their geographic origin and year of sample collection, as well as the direction of their evolution in the major geographic regions of the world.

Rubella is listed as a disease that needs to be eliminated worldwide by the World Health Organization. This study aimed to investigate rubella epidemiology and genetic characteristics based on data from 12 years of laboratory-based surveillance (2009-2020) in Tianjin and to provide baseline genotype data for monitoring future rubella control efforts. We collected RV-positive throat swab samples from confirmed rubella cases during 2009-2020 in Tianjin to isolate RV, amplify and sequence target gene fragments, construct phylogenetic trees, and analyze nucleotide homologies.

Background: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) guidelines recommend direct-acting antiviral (DAA) rescue regimens in cases of treatment failure, and first-line regimens for reinfection. In patients with barriers to follow-up after treatment, it is difficult to determine if HCV viremia represents failure or reinfection. Patients are often retreated with rescue regimens despite higher costs.

Background: The function of CD69 expressed on T cells in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) remains unclear. We aimed to elucidate the roles of CD69 on T cells in the disease process and in antiviral therapy for CHB.
Methods: We enrolled 335 treatment-naive patients with CHB and 93 patients with CHB on antiviral therapy.

Background: The impact of gut microbiome on hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is unclear. We aimed to evaluate the potential correlation between gut microbiome and HBV-related HCC and introduced novel machine learning (ML) signatures based on gut microbe to predict the risk of HCC.
Materials And Methods: A total of 640 patients with chronic liver diseases or HCC were prospectively recruited between 2019 and 2022.
