(Naudin) is an important wild crop that belongs to the family Cucurbitaceae. Fruits possess digestive, stomachic, vermifuge and febrifuge properties and possess analgesic, antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activities. Current research is aimed at screening diverse phytoconstituents present in the fruit extract of wild melon ( var. ) with the technique of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Our outcomes showed that fruit extract of has various phytochemicals such as glycosides, alkaloids, phenols, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, proteins, amino acids and carbohydrates. HPLC analysis revealed that naringenin and catechin were reported to have the highest concentrations among the all studied accessions. PCA and HCA multivariant analysis showed that, first two principal components, PC1 and PC2 contributed to 54.87% of the variation, where maximum loadings were from apigenin, trailed by gallic acid, rutin, and catechol.

Bitterness, caused by cucurbitacin B (CuB), is one of the important traits that affects melon fruit quality and consumer acceptance. Therefore, the detailed mechanism behind the regulation of CuB biosynthesis on melon fruit needs to be further explored. This study investigated CuB content and transcriptomes of "YMR" melon fruit treated by 5 and 20 mg L CPPU.

Article Synopsis
  • - Zucchini tigre mosaic virus (ZTMV) is a positive-sense RNA virus from the Potyvirus genus, which infects various plants like snake gourd and zucchini.
  • - Researchers created a full-length infectious cDNA clone of ZTMV to study its infection capabilities and sequenced its genome, finding a close genetic relation to the ZTMV-TW strain.
  • - Analysis of 12 ZTMV isolates revealed high variability in the P1 gene, with overall negative selection on all genes but some positive selection at certain sites within the P1 gene itself.
