Diffractive multispectral optical imaging plays an essential role in optical sensing, which typically suffers from the image blurring problem caused by the spatially variant point spread function. Here, we propose a novel high-quality and efficient hybrid space calibrated 3D network "HSC3D" for spatially variant diffractive multispectral imaging that utilizes the 3D U-Net structure combined with space calibration modules of magnification and rotation effects to achieve high-accuracy eight-channel multispectral restoration. The algorithm combines the advantages of the space calibrated module and U-Net architecture with 3D convolutional layers to improve the image quality of diffractive multispectral imaging without the requirements of complex equipment modifications and large amounts of data. A diffractive multispectral imaging system is established by designing and manufacturing one diffractive lens and four refractive lenses, whose monochromatic aberration is carefully corrected to improve imaging quality. The mean peak signal-to-noise ratio and mean structural similarity index of the reconstructed multispectral images are improved by 3.33 dB and 0.08, respectively, presenting obviously improved image quality compared with a typical Unrolled Network algorithm. The new algorithm with high space calibrated ability and imaging quality has great application potential in diffraction lens spectroscopy and paves a new method for complex practical diffractive multispectral image sensing.

Modern detection technology has driven camouflage technology toward multispectral compatibility and dynamic regulation. However, developing such stealth technologies is challenging due to different frequency-band principles. Here, this work proposes a design concept for a fluid-actuated multispectral compatible smart stealth device that employs a deformable mechanochromic layer/elastomer with a channeled dielectric layer.

Article Synopsis
  • * Using secondary ion mass spectrometry, the research found that gallium penetrates several tens of microns into the material without causing significant changes in structure, as indicated by X-ray diffraction.
  • * The results show that increasing gallium concentration leads to a substantial increase in surface hardness, achieving values more than double those of the untreated ZnS, with plans for future work to optimize this treatment for improved durability in harsh conditions.

This paper presents the synthesis process of a ligand known as 2-(naphthalene-1-yl)-1H-phenanthro[9,10-d]imidazole (NIP) and its metal complex with zinc (II), denoted as FA-128. The structural validation of FA-128 is accomplished through single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD). To explore the biological implications, FA-128's interaction with BSA is investigated.

Article Synopsis
  • Traditional snapshot techniques in long-wave infrared imaging lose significant optical energy due to the use of broadband filters, prompting the need for a more efficient solution.
  • The authors propose replacing these filters with specially designed diffractive elements optimized through a gradient descent algorithm, which improves optical energy efficiency by steering wavelengths to designated pixels.
  • A MST neural network is then employed to reconstruct spectral information, allowing for high-quality imaging and adaptability to changes in the image plane, as demonstrated through emulation experiments.
