Respiratory diseases in children are common health problems that significantly impact their quality of life and health status, and this has its own unique challenges compared to adults. A growing body of research has focused on epigenetic mechanisms that relate with the development of various diseases, such as pediatric respiratory diseases. Noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs), especially long noncoding RNAs, microRNA, and circular RNA, are reported to play a regulatory role in pediatric respiratory diseases whose mutations or aberrant expressions are strongly associated with the development of these diseases. In this review, we mainly discussed the functions of these three ncRNAs in pediatric respiratory diseases.

This procedure is carried out via a full sternotomy using standard aortic and bicaval cannulations. For the aortic and pulmonary anastomoses, selective antegrade unilateral cerebral perfusion is used after cooling the body temperature to 26 °Celsius. A 12-mm Hancock conduit is interposed between the pulmonary artery and the proximal descending aorta using standard running suture techniques.

Unlabelled: Respiratory and encephalitic virus infections represent a significant risk to public health globally. Detailed investigations of immunological responses and disease outcomes during sequential virus infections are rare. Here, we define the impact of influenza virus infection on a subsequent virus encephalitis.

Background And Objectives: Low-birth weight, premature infants often have severe intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH), which can result in posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus (PHH), sometimes requiring cerebrospinal fluid diversion. Initial temporizing management of PHH includes placement of a ventriculosubgaleal shunt (VSGS) or ventricular access device (VAD). Studies have found similar permanent shunt conversion rates between VSGS and VAD but were limited by sample scope and size.

Background: Results of the National Lung Screening Trial create the potential to reduce lung cancer mortality, but community translation of lung cancer screening (LCS) has been challenging. Subsequent policies have endorsed informed and shared decision-making and using decision support tools to support person-centered choices about screening to facilitate implementation. This study evaluated the feasibility and acceptability of LuCaS CHOICES, a web-based decision aid to support delivery of accurate information, facilitate communication skill development, and clarify personal preferences regarding LCS-a key component of high-quality LCS implementation.

Next-generation cancer phenomics by deployment of multiple molecular endophenotypes coupled with high-throughput analyses of gene expression offer veritable opportunities for triangulation of discovery findings in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) research. This study reports differentially expressed genes in NSCLC using publicly available datasets (GSE18842 and GSE229253), uncovering 130 common genes that may potentially represent crucial molecular signatures of NSCLC. Additionally, network analyses by GeneMANIA and STRING revealed significant coexpression and interaction patterns among these genes, with four notable hub genes-, , and -identified as pivotal in NSCLC progression.
