is an opportunistic pathogen that causes serious life-threatening infections. In this report, we describe a case of pulmonary infection caused by in a young female patient, following cardiac surgery, which was successfully treated with a combination of trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMZ) and eravacycline. Additionally, this report provides a summary of high-risk factors for infection, clinical manifestations, and therapeutic options. Given the high degree of antimicrobial drug resistance of the organism and the fact that inappropriate empirical antimicrobial therapy constitutes a risk factor for mortality, our case serves as a valuable reference for similar cases, highlighting potential strategies for effective management.

This retrospective study investigated the potential drug-drug interactions between trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMZ) and high-dose methotrexate (HD-MTX) in adult patients with primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL). A total of 143 Chinese adult patients with PCNSL who received 498 cycles of MTX were included. Differences in the pharmacokinetics of MTX, including C, clearance (CL) and AUC with and without co-administration of TMP-SMZ were assessed.

Background: Anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 antibody-positive dermatomyositis (anti-MDA5+DM) patients are associated with considerable mortality, and opportunistic infections including Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP)is the main cause. This study was to identify clinical characteristics, risk factors, and prognostic factors of PJP diagnosed by bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) in anti-MDA5+ DM patients.

Methods: In this retrospective observational study, all patients admitted with suspected pneumonia were detected for mNGS in BALF.

Background: Nocardiosis poses a diagnostic challenge due to its rarity in clinical practice, non-specific clinical symptoms and imaging features, and the limitations of traditional detection methods. () is rarely detected in clinical samples. Metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) offers significant advantages over traditional methods for rapid and accurate diagnosis of infectious diseases, especially for rare pathogens.

Objective: The first-line treatment for severe pneumonia (PCP) is trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP/SMZ). Here, we report a case involving 6-month-old child with a PCP infection, highlighting the role of clinical pharmacists in providing individualized pharmaceutical care and guidance through the process of therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM).

Methods: The clinical pharmacist monitored the concentration of TMP/SMZ in the serum, urine and sputum of a 6-month-old child with PCP infection.

Background: Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (TMP/SMZ), traditionally a second-line drug, is now proposed as the primary alternative treatment for macrolide-resistant Bordetella pertussis (B.pertussis). Thus, there is an urgent need to evaluate the phenotypic profile of B.
