Background: There is a need for faster amyloid PET scans to reduce patients' discomfort, minimize movement artifacts, and increase throughput. The recently introduced uMI Panorama PET/CT system featuring enhanced spatial resolution and sub-200ps TOF offers the potential for shorter scan duration without sacrificing image quality or efficacy to detect Aβ deposition. The study aims to establish a faster acquisition protocol for [F]florbetapir PET imaging using digital PET/CT scanner uMI Panorama, while ensuring adequate image quality and amyloid-β (Aβ) detectability comparable to the standard 10-minute scan.

As an alternative to assessments performed by human experts, artificial intelligence (AI) is currently being used for screening fundus images and monitoring diabetic retinopathy (DR). Although AI models can provide quasi-clinician diagnoses, they rarely offer new insights to assist clinicians in predicting disease prognosis and treatment response. Using longitudinal retinal imaging data, we developed and validated a predictive model for DR progression: AI-driven Diabetic Retinopathy Progression Prediction Algorithm (ADRPPA).

Probing regional glycogen metabolism in humans non-invasively has been challenging due to a lack of sensitive approaches. Here we studied human muscle glycogen dynamics post-exercise with a spatial resolution of millimeters and temporal resolution of minutes, using relayed nuclear Overhauser effect (glycoNOE) MRI. Data at 5T showed a homogeneous distribution of glycogen in resting muscle, with an average concentration of 99 ± 13 mM.

Background: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a well-established treatment option for patients with severe aortic valve stenosis; however, clinical valve thrombosis is a major challenge.
Case Summary: A 92-year-old woman underwent TAVR for severe aortic stenosis. One month later, the patient developed acute heart failure.

Heatwaves pose a range of severe impacts on human health, including an increase in premature mortality. The summers of 2018 and 2022 are two examples with record-breaking temperatures leading to thousands of heat-related excess deaths in Europe. Some of the extreme temperatures experienced during these summers were predictable several weeks in advance by subseasonal forecasts.
