Cell-cell communication is essential for both unicellular and multicellular organisms. Secreted peptides that act as diffusive ligands are utilized by eukaryotic organisms to transduce information between cells to coordinate developmental and physiological processes. In plants, The () genes encode a family of secreted small peptides which play pivotal roles in stem cell homeostasis in various types of meristems. Accumulated evidence has revealed that CLE peptides mediate trans-kingdom interactions between plants and microbes, including pathogens and symbionts. This review highlights the emerging roles of CLE peptide signaling in plant-microbe interactions, focusing on their involvement in nodulation, immunity, and symbiosis with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. Understanding these interactions provides insights into the sophisticated regulatory networks to balance plant growth and defense, enhancing our knowledge of plant biology and potential agricultural applications.

Molecular glues are promising protein-degrading agents that hold great therapeutic potential but face significant challenges in rational design, effective synthesis, and precise targeting of tumor sites. In this study, we first overcame some of these limitations by introducing a fumarate-based molecular glue handle onto specific ligands of therapeutic kinases (TBK1, FGFR, and Bcr-Abl), resulting in the effective degradation of these important cancer targets. Despite the broad applicability of the strategy, we unexpectedly discovered potent and widespread cytotoxicity across various cell lines, including noncancerous ones, rendering it less effective in cancer therapy.

  • CLAVATA3/EMBRYO SURROUNDING REGION (CLE) peptides are crucial for positional signaling in plants, working with receptor-like kinases and WOX transcription factors to maintain stem cell functions.
  • Recent research identified 11 CLE-encoding genes in the Ceratopteris genome, with CrCLV3 being similar to the well-studied CLAVATA3, and functional studies revealed its role in promoting cell proliferation and stem cell identity in ferns.
  • Additionally, CrCLV3 regulates the WOX gene CrWOXA during key developmental stages, enhancing our understanding of CLE peptide functions and the evolutionary relationship between CLE and WOX signaling in land plants.

Background: Diabetic myopathy is characterized by the loss of skeletal muscle mass and function. NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3)-mediated pyroptosis is a type of proinflammatory cell death, which can exacerbate significant muscle cell loss and adverse remodelling. The stimulator of interferon genes (STING) is an essential molecule involved in the regulation of inflammation and immune responses across various diseases.
