Background: Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is associated with significant mortality and morbidity. The impact of SAH on human glymphatic function remains unknown.

Methods: This prospective, controlled study investigated whether human glymphatic function is altered after SAH, how it differs over time, and possible underlying mechanisms.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes and role of lymphadenectomy in hypervascular intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) quantified using the arterial phase of contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT).

Methods: Consecutive patients with mass-forming (MF) or predominantly MF type ICC who underwent surgical resection from 2000 to 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Using the image of the late arterial phase, CT-vascularity was calculated by dividing the CT value of the tumor (Hounsfield units) with that of the liver parenchyma.

Purpose: To achieve a historical perspective, the chronological changes in primary liver cancer over a 20-year period were investigated at a single institution, focusing on shifts in etiology and the impact on imaging and pathological findings using The Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective study of surgically resected primary liver cancer in 680 patients from 2001 to 2020 resulted in 434 patients with 482 nodules being analyzed. Dynamic contrast-enhanced computed tomography imaging and the Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System 2018 classification were employed.

Background: Recent advances in gated cardiac contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) with anesthesia support, enhance the imaging performance in congenital heart disease (CHD). 3D reconstruction of the CECT image is a novel modality that could help manage pediatric cardiac patients.

Methods: A retrospective study of children diagnosed with CHD presenting for surgical intervention (n = 139) was carried out at our cardiac surgical center.

Interstep Variations of Stairways and Associations of High-Contrast Striping and Fall-Related Events: Observational Study.

Interact J Med Res

January 2025

Department of Kinesiology and Health Science, Sorenson Legacy Foundation Center for Clinical Excellence, Utah State University, Logan, UT, United States.

Background: Interstep variations in step riser height and tread depth within a stairway could negatively impact safe stair negotiation by decreasing step riser height predictability and, consequently, increasing stair users' fall risk. Unfortunately, interstep variations in riser height and depth are common, particularly in older stairways, but its impact may be lessened by highlighting steps' edges using a high-contrast stripe on the top front edge of each step.

Objective: This study aimed to determine (1) if fall-related events are associated with greater interstep riser height and depth variations and (2) if such fall-related events are reduced in the presence of contrast-enhanced step edges compared with a control stairway.
