A novel optical array sensor designed to detect the conservation status of citrus fruit as well as contamination of ripened fruits by green mold incited by the fungus is reported here. The device demonstrates high sensitivity, specificity, and cost-effectiveness, making it suitable for integration into the citrus fruit supply chain, including production and packaging systems.
