Falls among older people present a significant public health concern. Community nurses, with their expertise, ability to leverage the therapeutic relationship and intimate access to their patients' lives and daily routines, have the capacity to effect real change in this domain. Francesca Ramadan explores the contributing factors underlying falls and shares the practical steps a community nurse can take to manage the risk of future falls and preserve their patients' independence and wellbeing.

Purpose: Multidisciplinary care pathways for falls prevention, which include falls risk stratification, multifactorial falls risk assessment, and management of multidomain interventions, can reduce falls in older adults. However, efficient multidisciplinary falls prevention care is challenging due to issues such as poor communication and role allocation. This study aimed to identify and visualize the multidisciplinary care needs of primary care-based health care professionals (HCPs) for falls prevention in the Netherlands using the novel co-design approach of journey mapping.

Analyzing video footage of falls in older adults has emerged as an alternative to traditional lab studies. However, this approach is limited by the labor-intensive process of manually labeling body parts. To address this limitation, we aimed to validate the use of the AI-based pose estimation algorithm (OpenPose) in assessing the hip impact velocity and acceleration of video-captured falls.

Objectives: Sepsis is a time-sensitive condition, and many rural emergency department (ED) sepsis patients are transferred to tertiary hospitals. The objective of this study was to determine whether longer transport times during interhospital transfer are associated with higher sepsis mortality or increased hospital length-of-stay (LOS).
Methods: A cohort of rural adult (age ≥ 18y) sepsis patients transferred between hospitals were identified in the TELEmedicine as a Virtual Intervention for Sepsis Care in Emergency Departments (TELEVISED) parent study.
Background: The Centiloid method (CL) was introduced as a tracer-independent measure for cortical amyloid load and is now commonly used in Alzheimer's disease (AD) clinical trials. To facilitate its implementation into clinical settings, the AMYPAD consortium set out to integrate existing literature and recent work from the consortium to provide clinical context-of-use recommendations of the Centiloid scale, which has been submitted to the European Medicine Agency for endorsement as a Biomarker Qualification Opinion.
Method: Screening of the literature was performed on the 7/11/23 on PubMed to identify articles mentioning "Centiloid".
