A checklist was generated by compiling a database of all available published accounts of the monogenean parasites of fish from northeast India. The checklist is presented as a host-parasite list, including 35 nominal species from 14 genera and 3 families of monogeneans. Ten of the monogenean species listed here have been described from native fishes in the region, while 25 had previously been described from other parts of India. Dactylogyridae was the dominant family with 33 species, followed by one species each from the family Sundanonchidae and Diplozoidae. was the most examined fish and was represented by five parasite species. This study is an important step for managing and controlling parasite diseases in regional aquaculture and also for future research on the ecology, evolutionary biology, and biogeography of monogenean parasites and their hosts. More significant efforts are needed to fully understand the diversity of monogenean parasites from the rich fish fauna of northeast India.

Background: Gyrodactylus von Nordmann, 1832, a genus of viviparous parasites within the family Gyrodactylidae, contains one of the largest nominal species in the world. Gyrodactylus pseudorasborae Ondračková, Seifertová & Tkachenko, 2023 widely distributed in Europe and China, although its mitochondrial genome remains unclear. This study aims to sequence the mitogenome of G.

Surface flow of freshwater on Adriatic islands is rare due to the extreme permeability of the karst terrain. Hence, most helminthological studies of freshwater fishes in the Adriatic drainage have focused on mainland freshwater systems, while data from islands are scarce. We collected minnow, (Schinz, 1840), specimens in the Suha Ričina stream on Krk Island and screened them for helminth ectoparasites.

Background: Stress responses are key the survival of parasites and, consequently, also the evolutionary success of these organisms. Despite this importance, our understanding of the evolution of molecular pathways dealing with environmental stressors in parasitic animals remains limited. Here, we tested the link between adaptive evolution of parasite stress response genes and their ecological diversity and species richness.

This study aimed to evaluate alternative in vivo treatment trials using natural products for ectoparasitic infestation on Nile tilapia; these two products were not previously used in the treatment of parasitic fish diseases. So, a total of 400 Oreochromis niloticus (O. niloticus) fish measured 10-15 cm in length; 350 from a fish farm in (Kafr Elsheikh and 50 from Nile River (Al Bahr Al Aazam), Egypt.

Unlike other microbothriid monogenean infections in elasmobranchs, limited information is available on the biology and treatment of . As parasitic infection with was found in 21 juvenile blacktip reef sharks () at the Lotteworld aquarium in Seoul, South Korea, we aimed to investigate the anatomical features and treatment protocols for in this study. The parasites were sampled and fixed in 10% neutral-buffered formalin, and examined using light and scanning electron microscopy.
