Isolation from friends on central campuses, exacerbated by poor transport links, and a lack of practical mental health support provided by universities are two areas having a negative impact on vet student wellbeing. Here Pip Sears discusses some of the issues and suggests improvements that could be made.

Buxtonella sulcata is an intestine ciliate protozoa whose presence in the cattle intestine has been associated with diarrhea episodes. Despite its cosmopolitan distribution, it has yet to be reported in previous studies on cattle in Chile. The skills necessary to perform diagnostic perineural anesthesia in equids belongs to one of the Day One Competences of a veterinarian, so every veterinary graduate should be able to perform them correctly. For logistical, hygienic and ethical reasons, practical exercises on cadaver limbs are not accessible to all students.
