Introduction And Objectives: Tissue attenuation reduces the specificity of the myocardial perfusion imaging single photon emission tomography (SPECT), which leads reduced diagnostic accuracy. The aim of this study is to compare performances of non-attenuation corrected (NAC), computed tomography based-attenuation corrected (AC) and prone images for qualitative and semi-quantitative analysis of myocardial perfusion SPECT in diagnosis of coronary artery disease (CAD).

Materials And Methods: Eightysix patients in whom NAC, AC and prone images were obtained with SPECT at Selcuk University Faculty of Medicine, and whose coronary angiography/CT coronary angiography was completed within 3 months, were retrospectively studied.

Health equity and distributive justice: views of high-level African policymakers.

BMC Med Ethics

December 2024

Takemi Program in International Health, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Harvard University, 665 Huntington Avenue, Bldg. 1, Boston, MA, 02115-6021, USA.

Health equity matters, but there is no universally accepted definition of this or associated terms, such as inequities, inequalities, and disparities. Given the flexibility of these terms, investigating how policymakers understand them is important to observe priorities and perhaps course correct. Accordingly, this study analyzed the perceptions high-level policymakers within the WHO African Region.

Analysis of the distribution of mechanical load on the plate and lateral hinge of a valgus-producing open wedge high tibial osteotomy during weight-bearing by simulating consolidation. Finite element study.

Laboratoire ICube, Université de Strasbourg - CNRS, 4 rue de la Manufacture des Tabacs, 67000 Strasbourg, France; Service de Chirurgie Orthopédique et de Traumatologie, Hôpital de Hautepierre II, 1 Avenue Molière, 67098 Strasbourg Cedex, France. Electronic address:

Introduction: High tibial osteotomy (HTO) is indicated for managing isolated medial knee osteoarthritis in a young patient with a metaphyseal deformity of the proximal tibia. In a medial open-wedge HTO, maintaining the integrity of the hinge is crucial for consolidation and preservation of the correction. Based on a validated model and preliminary results, the objective of this work was to measure and monitor the distribution of mechanical load on a locking fixation plate and the lateral hinge of an HTO using a finite element (FE) model during different phases of consolidation evolution, simulating single leg weightbearing.

School of Pharmacy, Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Jinan 250355, PR China; Key Laboratory of Traditional Chinese Medicine Classical Theory, Ministry of Education, Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Jinan 250355, PR China. Electronic address:

Countercurrent chromatography (CCC) is an efficient technique for purifying bioactive natural compounds, but selecting the solvent system can be a time-consuming and crucial process for successful separation. This paper discussed the HPLC-assisted mathematical prediction method for the n-hexane/alcohol solvents/water (HAWat) and ethyl acetate/n-butanol/water (EBuWat) systems and designed an intelligent online selection system to simplify the separation process. First, the applicable rage of HAWat and EBuWat solvent systems were quantified by the methanol concentration at the column inlet when template molecules peak in a HPLC analysis (B%).

Buried-guided suture suspension of the alar crus: A minimally invasive method to correct nostril exposure.

J Plast Reconstr Aesthet Surg

November 2024

The Department of Perineal Plastic Surgery and Gender Reshaping of Plastic Surgery Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China. Electronic address:

Objectives: To introduce a novel technique using the buried-guided suture method for suspending the alar crus to correct nostril exposure in East Asians and to investigate its safety and efficacy.

Methods: Patients with ptotic alar crus and nostril exposure at our clinic were enrolled between December 2011 and December 2023. Via an intranasal incision, the excess skin on the inner side of the nostrils was excised.
