Background: Guided by the tenets of Kolcaba's holistic comfort theory, we developed, implemented, and evaluated a simulated online pediatric advanced practice health center. The Pediatric Comfy Care Clinic (PCCC) was created to enhance person-centered diagnostic reasoning and holistic advanced management skills for family nurse practitioner students.
Methods: Our interprofessional team used a standardized approach to online design and development while integrating essential holistic comfort theory concepts for student engagement and assessment of learning. We explored outcomes of pre- and postclinic quizzes and student reflection data using mixed methods.
Results: Significant differences (P < .001) were noted in all postpractice quizzes in each affiliated PCCC module with variable student outcomes on graded clinic encounters. Important student perspectives on teaching and learning in the virtual clinic were noted.
Conclusion: A comfort theory-driven, simulated, and digitally enhanced virtual clinic is feasible and valuable with important implications for holistic advanced practice.

Background: The highly technological environment existing in intensive care units, essential for the survival of the newborn, contributes with a potentially devastating and traumatic effect, especially in preterm newborns and in their future lives, due to the early and frequent exposure to multiple stressors. The preterm newborn must be observed in a systematic and structured way, before, during and after any intervention, aiming at the correct assessment and interpretation of his behaviour and signs of stress, and at the timely planning of interventions that minimize and prevent stress. The objective of this review is to identify and map the instruments for assessing stress in preterm newborns admitted to neonatal units in scientific evidence.

By addressing patients' physical, psychological, social, cultural, and environmental comfort needs holistically, Kolcaba's Comfort Theory raises the standard of care and increases patient satisfaction. This study explored the combined application of these nursing models during the perioperative period for patients undergoing nasal deformity correction surgery. 92 patients undergoing nasal deformity correction at the Seventh Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University were randomly divided into two groups: the conventional group (46 patients), which received standard perioperative nursing care, and the experimental group (46 patients), which received concept map thinking nursing combined with Kolcaba's comfort nursing intervention during the perioperative period.

In the face of climate change and increasing urbanisation, ensuring outdoor thermal comfort is becoming an increasingly crucial consideration for sustainable urban planning. However, informed decision-making is limited by the challenge of obtaining high-resolution thermal comfort data. This study introduces an interdisciplinary, low-resource, and user-friendly methodology for thermal comfort mapping, employing a self-built low-cost meteorological device for mobile climate monitoring.
