In this study, a novel label-free fluorescent aptasensor with an aggregation-induced emission enhancement effect was developed and applied for the detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). The sensor has a simple detection mechanism, easy operation, high sensitivity (with low limit of detection of 1 pg mL), good selectivity, and wide linear range (0.003-10 ng mL). In addition, it can be directly applied for the determination of CEA in human serum.

Background/objectives: Metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) is mainly treated with 5-Fluoro-Uracil (5-FU), Oxaliplatin and Irinotecan chemotherapies and anti-Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) or anti-Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) targeted therapies. Due to chemotherapy-related toxicity, patients receive induction treatment to achieve tumour response followed by maintenance therapy with less cytotoxic molecules or a chemotherapy-free interval to reduce chemotherapy-related toxicity. In this study, the aim was to determine the patient, cancer and treatment factors that influence the duration of maintenance therapy (DMT).

Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) represent one of the most promising and rapidly emerging anti-cancer therapies because they combine the cytotoxic effect of the conjugate payload and the high selectivity of the monoclonal antibody, which binds a specific membrane antigen expressed by the tumor cells. In non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), ADCs are being investigated targeting human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (), human epidermal growth factor receptor 3 (), trophoblast cell surface antigen 2 (), Mesenchymal-epithelial transition factor (), and carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 5 (). To date, Trastuzumab deruxtecan is the only ADC that has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of patients with NSCLC, but several ongoing studies, both using ADCs as monotherapy and combined with other therapies, are investigating the efficacy of new ADCs.

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in the world, and about 50% of its advanced patients will have liver metastasis. Preoperative assessment of the risk of liver metastasis in patients with colorectal cancer is of great significance for making individualized treatment plans. Traditional imaging examinations and tumor markers have some limitations in predicting the risk of liver metastasis.

Objective: Carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) serve as pivotal tumor markers in colorectal cancer (CRC). However, uncertainty persists regarding the prognostic significance of the two tumor markers when falling within the normal range. We attempt to compare the prognostic differences of tumor markers at different levels within the reference range.

The development of universal electrochemical sensing platforms with high sensitivity and specificity is of great significance for advancing practical disease diagnostic methods and devices. Exploring the structural properties of electrode materials and their interaction with biomolecules is essential to developing novel and distinctive analytical approaches. Here, we innovatively investigated the effect of DNA length and configuration on DNA molecule transfer into the nanostructure of a nanoporous gold (NPG) electrode.
