In the standard approach to hip arthroscopy, access to the joint is achieved using fluoroscopic guidance to enter the central compartment of the hip using the Seldinger technique, penetrating the capsule with a needle and subsequently cannulating and obtaining direct visualization of the joint. In such a way, arthroscopists then proceed with accessory portal creation and capsulotomy, as desired, under direct intra-articular visualization. In cases with severe pincer morphology or coxa profunda, it may not be possible to safely access the central compartment under fluoroscopic guidance due to significant lateral overcoverage of the femoral head. We present an outside-in arthroscopic approach for accessing the hip joint in such patients, allowing for safe visualization, osseous pincer resection, and improved central compartment access while minimizing the risk to cartilage and labral tissue.

During maritime operations, extreme events such as explosions, grounding, and seal failures can cause water ingress into lubricant compartments, forming oil-water emulsions that significantly affect the lubrication performance of ship stern bearings. Existing studies mainly focus on low water content, with limited exploration of the impact of high water content on lubrication performance. To address this gap, viscosity measurements of oil-water mixtures were conducted, and an emulsification viscosity equation applicable to varying water contents was derived.

Salinity gradient power (SGP) by reverse electrodialysis is a promising method for converting SGP into electricity. Instead of the conventional approach of using seawater and freshwater, an alternative method involves using highly concentrated salt solutions (brines) alongside seawater or brackish water. Key factors influencing SGP via reverse electrodialysis (SGP-RE) include the properties of ion exchange membranes, particularly their thickness.

Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic that causes acute kidney injury in over 30% of patients. The aim of this study was to develop a population pharmacokinetic/toxicodynamic (PKTD) model of cisplatin-induced kidney injury that incorporated plasma total platinum and urinary kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) concentrations. Cancer patients receiving their first or second round of cisplatin-containing chemotherapy (n=39) were prospectively randomized to a 5-HT antagonist (5-HTA) antiemetic (ondansetron, granisetron, or palonosetron) and had blood and urine collected over 10 days.

Iruplinalkib (WX-0593), a selective oral ALK/ROS1 tyrosine kinase inhibitor, was approved in China as first-line therapy for ALK-positive non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic ALK-positive NSCLC that has progressed following crizotinib therapy. Pharmacokinetics (PK) data of iruplinalkib have been collected in healthy subjects and patient populations in several studies. We developed a population PK (PopPK) model for describing iruplinalkib plasma concentrations and for evaluating whether dose adjustments are necessary based on demographic factors or disease characteristics.

The cerebellum is a highly conserved brain compartment of vertebrates. Genetic diseases of the human cerebellum often lead to degeneration of the principal neuron, the Purkinje cell, resulting in locomotive deficits and socio-emotional impairments. Due to its relatively simple but highly conserved neuroanatomy and circuitry, these human diseases can be modeled well in vertebrates amenable for genetic manipulation.
