Phosphorus (P) is often a limiting nutrient in freshwaters and most management actions aim to reduce eutrophication associated with excess anthropogenic P inputs. Here, we report on the opposite problem, persistent and widespread oligotrophication (i.e., declining P concentrations) in northern rivers (56-66 N) that appears unrelated to reductions in anthropogenic loading. Over the past forty years, P concentrations and fluxes in rivers draining forest dominated Swedish catchments have declined by nearly 50 %, with steeper declines in nutrient poor locations. Trends are negatively correlated with forest growth, temperature, pH and alkalinity. They are unrelated to trends in calcium, organic carbon and runoff. Declining P trends were strongest in locations draining catchments with shallow, nutrient poor soils and P concentrations in most locations are currently below estimated reference levels. These widespread and ongoing P declines highlight the need for new surface water management paradigms addressing the consequences of both nutrient scarcity and surplus.

To diversify wine production in Xinjiang and address the issue of wine homogenization, it is crucial to leverage the unique climatic advantages of each grape-producing area to foster a high-quality wine industry. Using meteorological data from 80 national standard meteorological stations in Xinjiang, spanning 1961 to 2019, this study established a climatic zoning index system tailored to distinct grape varieties for wines, including dry red, dry white, ice wine, sparkling wine, and natural sweet wines. The system is formulated based on key climatic factors such as the frost-free period, ≥ 10 °C active accumulated temperature (AAT10), mean temperature of the coldest month, annual extreme minimum temperature, and dryness.

The establishment of conservation areas is an important strategy for endangered species conservation. In this study, we investigated the distributions of suitable habitat areas for three level 1 endangered Cupressaceae plants (, , and ) in China and used the Marxan model to delineate the priority conservation areas for each species. The results showed that had the broadest suitable growing area under the current climate in China and is followed by , with an area of 91 × 10 km, and had the smallest suitable habitat areas at only 7 × 10 km.

Objective: To investigate the fluctuations in the population density of and changes in the population density of in different geographical areas and different breeding habitats in Guangdong Province from 2018 to 2023, so as to provide insights into prevention and control of mosquito-borne infectious diseases in the province.
Methods: surveillance sites were assigned in 1 609 townships (streets) from 121 districts (counties) of 21 cities in Guangdong Province during the period between March and November from 2018 to 2023. The surveillance of the population density of was performed once a month in each surveillance site, and once a month in specific settings in cities where dengue were highly prevalent in Guangdong Province from December to February of the next year during the period from 2018 through 2023.

Objective: To investigate the epidemiological characteristics and spatial distribution characteristics of human infections in Guangdong Province from 2016 to 2022, so as to provide insights into formulation of the clonorchiasis control measures in the province.
Methods: Xinhui District of Jiangmen City, Longmen County of Huizhou City and Wengyuan County of Shaoguan City in Guangdong Province were selected as fixed surveillance sites for human clonorchiasis from 2016 to 2022, and additional 10% to 15% counties (districts) endemic for clonorchiasis were sampled from Guangdong Province as mobile surveillance sites each year from 2016 to 2022. A village (community) was randomly selected from each surveillance site according to the geographical orientations of east, west, south, north and middle, and subjects were randomly sampled from each village (community).
