Haemotropic mycoplasmas (haemoplasmas) are obligate epierythrocytic bacteria that infect a wide range of vertebrate hosts. The molecular characterisation of organisms in dogs has not previously been attempted from India. Hence, in the present study, the molecular characterisation of spp. in dogs of different zones of Kerala was attempted using gene. An overall prevalence of 18% for was detected. The NCBI-BLAST analysis of all the selected sequences revealed > 99% identity with the sequences of The phylogenetic analysis revealed clustering of and in a single clade indicating low genetic variability. It was further supported by the genetic distance data and haplotype analysis.

Alopecia areata (AA) is a heterogeneous disease characterized by nonscarring hair loss on the scalp or other parts of the body. A wide range of clinical presentations can occur-from a single patch of hair loss (alopecia unilocularis, AUl), multiple patches (alopecia multilocularis, AM) to complete loss of hair on the scalp (alopecia totalis, AT) or the entire body (alopecia universalis, AU). The cause ofAA is unknown although most evidence supports the hypothesis that AA is a T-cell mediated autoimmune disease of the hair follicle and that cytokines play an important role.

The genetic homogeneity of this strain was tested on the basis of serum amyloid A (SAA) polymorphism and it was established that it harbours only the SAA allele A, which is expressed in liver, lung and bursa of Fabricius tissues. Pathogenic changes in control and avian leukosis virus-C (ALV-C) persistently infected ducks were evaluated during the period spanning 1 to 10 months after hatching.
