Transcending Self Therapy (TST) is an integrative Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for substance use disorders (SUD). Virtual reality (VR)-based enhancement of treatment for mental health disorders holds potential as an innovative and immersive adjunct to standards of care. However, outside of cue-conditioning applications, how VR may assist SUD treatment is not well understood. The aim of this study was to examine the association between engagement with a VR version of TST and residential SUD treatment completion. In a program evaluation, 51 consecutive military veterans admitted to a residential SUD treatment program were afforded access to VR equipment programmed to enable exploration of a virtual wooded retreat with stations that reinforced psychoeducation concepts of TST, meditation, and other therapeutic activities. Administrative records were reviewed, and treatment completion data were collected for veterans who opted to receive a TST-VR headset ( = 36) and those who did not ( = 15). Engagement with the VR gear and program was related to treatment completion. Veterans who opted to accept the VR program and related training in its use were significantly more likely to complete treatment than those who did not (86.1% vs 60.0%; = 0.039). These data suggest that either VR-based reinforcement of TST concepts improved the treatment experience or motivation for change, and/or that individuals with poor general treatment motivation are unlikely to choose VR-enhancement of SUD treatment and complete treatment in general. Both possibilities have important implications for VR SUD treatment research.

Background: Patients with substance use disorder (SUD) are frequently hospitalized and readmitted. Hospitalization is an opportunity for treatment initiation, including medications for alcohol (MAUD) and opioid use disorder (MOUD). Addiction consult teams are one model for increasing hospital-based SUD treatment.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed through a developed survey that was administered by e-mail to all 12,152 in-state physicians licensed in Kentucky; 524 responded. Addiction specialists, emergency physicians, and psychiatrists were categorized separately; family medicine and internal medicine (FM/IM) physicians were combined into one category; all of the other specialties were grouped into an "Other" category.

An asymptomatic 79-year old woman presented with a 40 mm pancreatic cystic lesion, located in the pancreatic body-tail and consistent with branch-duct intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (BD-IPMN) without "high risk stigmata". During a 4-year follow-up period, imaging showed no mural nodules or main pancreatic duct dilation, and serum CEA and CA19.9 were within normal range.

Background: While research has explored the connection between addiction and personality, no systematic study has examined how substance use disorders (SUD) and behavioral addictions specifically relate to the HEXACO model of personality. This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to fill this gap by investigating the association between HEXACO personality traits and various addictions, including illegal substances (e.g.

Introduction: Orthognathic surgery is a fundamental component of a maxillofacial surgeon's practice. In France, 510 specialists actively practice oral and maxillofacial surgery. In OMFs, despite the existence of evidence-based recommendation that address diagnosis, treatment planning, and operating methods, each surgeon/institution has developed an individual approach towards clinical management.
