AI Article Synopsis

  • - The genus is important for ecology and has species that may be used for food or medicine, but its diversity in China is not well understood.
  • - Recent efforts led to the collection of over a thousand specimens in China, resulting in the identification of four new species through ecological, morphological, and genetic analysis.
  • - New descriptions, illustrations, and a key to the species from East China have been created to aid in understanding and identifying these species.

Article Abstract

The genus plays a significant role in ecological systems, with certain species holding potential as food or medicinal resources. However, the species diversity of in China remains unclear. In recent years, more than one thousand specimens have been collected across China. Thus, through the integration of ecological evidence, detailed morphological studies, and phylogenetic analysis using a multiloci dataset of ITS + nLSU + , four new species-, , , and -have been differentiated from known species. has been newly documented from Jiangxi Province, China. Detailed descriptions and vivid illustrations have been provided based on the newly collected specimens, along with comparisons to closely related species. Additionally, a key to the reported species of s.l. from East China has been included.

Schistosoma mattheei and zoonotic schistosomiasis.

Trends Parasitol

Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Research Programme, Kamuzu University of Health Sciences, Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital Campus, Blantyre 3, Malawi.

We highlight the epidemiological importance of Schistosoma mattheei, a common parasite of livestock with an underappreciated ability to infect people, being recently incriminated in both female and male genital schistosomiasis. Through hybridisation(s) with other schistosome species, its public health importance will grow as its zoonotic potential expands across southern Africa.

Hippocampal place cells that encode the spatial location of an individual during navigation are widely reported in rodents. However, studies in primates have instead reported hippocampal cells that encode views of the environment. Evolutionary adaptations for navigating during night and day may explain the divergence of hippocampal representations between species.

[Pedigree analysis of novel missense mutations causing hereditary coagulation factor Ⅴ deficiency].

December 2024

Department of Clinical Laboratory, Key Laboratory of Clinical Laboratory Diagnosis and Translational Research of Zhejiang Province, the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou 325015, China.

This study aimed to primarily discuss the pathogenesis of hereditary coagulation factor Ⅴ (FⅤ) deficiency in a family with a consanguineous cousin marriage. The coagulation indices of the pedigree (three generations with seven individuals) and the thrombin levels of the proband and his father were assessed. All exons of the F5 gene were analyzed with Sanger sequencing, and a new mutation was confirmed with reverse sequencing.

Facultad de Medicina. Grupo de Genética Médica, Universidad de Antioquia, Medellín- Colombia. Electronic address:

Diesel exhaust particles (DEPs) are atmospheric pollutants associated with adverse health effects. In response to their impact, natural gas (NG) has emerged as a promising alternative fuel due to its cleaner combustion. Although the cytotoxicity and genotoxicity of DEPs from diesel or NG engines have been extensively studied, the impact of dual natural gas-diesel systems remains unexplored.
