Biomolecular condensates are dynamic membraneless compartments that regulate a myriad of cellular functions. A particular type of physiological condensate called stress granules (SGs) has gained increasing interest due to its role in the cellular stress response and various diseases. SGs, composed of several hundred RNA-binding proteins, form transiently in response to stress to protect mRNAs from translation and disassemble when the stress subsides.

Sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (SOS), also known as hepatic veno-occlusive disease (VOD), is a life-threatening complication of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. In severe cases, SOS/VOD progresses to multiple organ failure with a mortality rate higher than 80%. Early diagnosis and treatment based on severity assessment improve the prognosis of severe SOS/VOD, but conventional diagnostic criteria may be insufficient for an early diagnosis.

Background: Mismatch between osteochondral allograft (OCA) donor and recipient sex has been shown to negatively affect outcomes. This study accounts for additional donor variables and clinically relevant outcomes.

Purpose: To evaluate whether donor sex, age, donor-recipient sex mismatch, and duration of graft storage affect clinical outcomes and failure rates after knee OCA transplantation.
