Although distal tibial oblique osteotomy (DTOO) has usually been indicated for noninflammatory diseases such as osteoarthritis, we encountered three patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who underwent DTOO. We evaluated radiographic parameters and clinical scores, including self-reported scores for the foot and ankle [self-administered foot evaluation questionnaire (SAFE-Q)] and the Japanese Society for Surgery of the Foot (JSSF) ankle/hindfoot scale. In all three cases, radiographic improvements were achieved along with improvements in SAFE-Q and JSSF scores after mid-term follow-up. Supramalleolar osteotomy including DTOO could be indicated even for inflammatory diseases such as RA if erosive changes are not evident in the ankle joint.

When squamous cell carcinoma necessitates mandibular resection, the resultant defect can be complex. An osteocutaneous fibula free flap is an effective reconstruction option, typically supplied by the peroneal artery for both the fibula and skin flap. In this case report, an anatomical variation was found: the skin paddle was supplied by soleus musculocutaneous perforators of the posterior tibial artery, whereas the fibula was supplied by the peroneal artery.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to determine the exact locations of vascular pedicles that supply the fibularis longus and brevis, to identify the morphometric features of those vessels in the lateral compartment of the leg, and to indicate the branching points of the pedicles from the main arteries.

Methods: The popliteal arteries of 40 lower limbs from 20 adult cadavers (12 males, 8 females) were bilaterally injected with colored latex. After dissection, the branches of the arteries were identified and counted.

Case: A 49-year-old gentleman sustained a closed, right tibia peri-implant fracture with a bent intramedullary nail. This resulted in a 17° valgus and 5° recurvatum deformity with fracture at the distal third of the tibial shaft. The patient underwent closed manipulation with an F-Tool and was reviewed by our unit over the following year.

Case: Wide resection of a synovial sarcoma of the anteromedial distal leg involving the dimetaphyseal tibia and posterior tibial tendon produced an 8.5-cm osseous defect. To keep the free flap from invaginating into the defect and prevent kinking of the anastomosis, six 1.

Background: Implant fixation is often the cornerstone of musculoskeletal surgical procedures performed to provide bony fixation and/or fusion. The aim of this study was to evaluate how different design features and manufacturing methods influence implant osseointegration and mechanical properties associated with fixation in a standardized model in cancellous bone of adult sheep.

Methods: We evaluated the performance of three titanium alloy implants: (A) iFuse-TORQ implant; (B) Fenestrated Sacroiliac Device; and (C) Standard Cancellous Bone Screw in the cancellous bone of the distal femur and proximal tibia in 8 sheep.
