RING finger proteins are one of the largest families of E3 ubiquitin ligase, which regulate ubiquitination modification of proteins through their E3 ubiquitin ligase properties. Innate immunity is the first line of defense against pathogens invading the host. In the innate immune response, ubiquitination modifications regulate a variety of key proteins to inhibit and eliminate the pathogens while maintaining an appropriate inflammatory response. This paper reviews the role of RING finger proteins in regulating Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling pathway, retinoic acid-inducible gene I (RIG-I)-like receptor (RLR) signaling pathway and cyclic GMP-AMP (cGAMP) synthase-cGAMP stimulator of interferon gene (cGAS-cGAMP-STING) signaling pathway. It aims to provide new insights into the research on RING finger proteins and anti-infection innate immunity.

Human puberty is a dynamic biological process determined by the increase in the pulsatile secretion of GnRH triggered by distinct factors not fully understood. Current knowledge reveals fine tuning between an increase in stimulatory factors and a decrease in inhibitory factors, where genetic and epigenetic factors have been indicated as key players in the regulation of puberty onset by distinct lines of evidence. Central precocious puberty (CPP) results from the premature reactivation of pulsatile secretion of GnRH.

Background: Prone transpsoas lumbar interbody fusion (PTP) is a newer technique to treat various spinal disc pathologies. PTP is a variation of lateral lumbar interbody fusion (LLIF) that is performed with the patient prone rather than in the lateral decubitus position. This approach offers similar benefits of lateral spinal surgery, which include less blood loss, shorter hospital stay, and quicker recovery compared with traditional open spine surgery.

The DNA damage response (DDR) mechanisms that allow cells to tolerate DNA replication stress are critically important for genome stability and cell viability. Using an unbiased genetic screen we identify a role for the RING finger E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF25 in promoting DNA replication stress tolerance. In response to DNA replication stress, RNF25-deficient cells generate aberrantly high levels of single-stranded DNA (ssDNA), accumulate in S-phase and show reduced mitotic entry.

Muscle activity mapping by single peak localization from HDsEMG.

J Electromyogr Kinesiol

January 2025

Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Lund University, Lund, Sweden.

Human-machine interfaces using electromyography (EMG) offer promising applications in control of prosthetic limbs, rehabilitation assessment, and assistive technologies. These applications rely on advanced algorithms that decode the activation patterns of muscles contractions. This paper presents a new approach to assess and decode muscle activity by localizing the origin of individual temporal peaks in high-density surface EMG recordings from the dorsal forearm during low force finger extensions.

A characteristic feature of redundancy in the motor system is the ability to compensate for the failure of individual motor elements without affecting task performance. In this study, we examined the pattern and variability in error compensation between motor elements during a virtual task. Participants performed a redundant cursor control task with finger movements.
