The novel reactivity of a less selective and more reactive acceptor-acceptor kind of diazo pyrazolone (DIPOL) has been explored under visible light for the first time. We have successfully demonstrated the reaction of DIPOL and different allyl thioethers under blue light to construct a wide variety of products including a pesticidal analogue exclusively in excellent chemoselectivity in good to excellent yields. Moreover, possible side products emanating from ketene were not observed. This protocol works smoothly in an environmentally benign solvent under inert free conditions. The practicality of the protocol has been extended to a photoflow reaction, and also, the reaction works smoothly under the direct exposure of sunlight.

Background/aim: Breast cancer is mostly affected by estrogen, which promotes proliferation, tumorigenesis, and cancer progression. Estrogen sulfotransferase (SULT1E1) catalyzes sulfation to inactivate estrogens, whereas steroid sulfatase (STS) catalyzes estrogen sulfate hydrolysis to activate estrogens in breast cancer cells. Synthesis and Thiol-Ene Photopolymerization of Bio-Based Hybrid Aromatic-Aliphatic Monomers Derived from Limonene, Cysteamine and Hydroxycinnamic Acid Derivatives.

Polymers (Basel)

November 2024

Centro de Investigación en Química Aplicada, Department of Macromolecular Chemistry and Nanomaterials, Blvd Enrique Reyna #140, Saltillo 25294, Mexico.

Three novel bio-based monomers were synthesized through an amidation reaction involving allylated derivatives of coumaric, ferulic and phloretic acid and a diamine obtained from a thiol-ene coupling reaction between limonene and cysteamine. The monomers containing the enone bond of the cinnamic moiety underwent photoisomerization and photocycloaddition reactions upon UV light irradiation. All three monomers were photocured via thiol-ene photopolymerization using a glycerol-derived trifunctional thiol, resulting in fully bio-based poly(amide-thioether)s.

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of free and nanoencapsulated garlic essential oil (GEO) on performance, serum biochemistry, and immune functions. Broiler chickens (900 males 1-day-old, Ross 308) were randomly assigned to six treatment diets (0, 75, or 150 mg/kg free GEO and 0 [containing chitosan], 75, or 150 mg/kg nanoencapsulated GEO) in a 2 × 3 factorial arrangement of treatments. The inclusion of nanoencapsulated GEO with a concentration of 75 mg/kg significantly increased the growth performance (p < 0.

Precise control of selective alkene functionalization is a continuing challenge in the chemical community. In this study, we develop a substitution-controlled regiodivergent thioetherification of di- or trisubstituted alkenes using 10 mol % tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane [B(CF)] as a catalyst and N-thiosuccinimide as a sulfenylating reagent. This metal-free borane catalyzed C-S bond forming method is utilized for a Csp-H sulfenylation reaction to synthesize an array of diphenylvinylsulfide derivatives with good to excellent yields (25 examples, up to 91 % yield).

Allicin (diallyl thiosulfinate) is an abundant bioactive compound in garlic (Allium sativum L.) with broad-spectrum antiinflammatory, antifungal, antioxidant, and antitumor properties. The bioactive compounds of garlic including allicin may also help reduce the incidence of various diseases, although the individual contributions and precise mechanisms are still largely unknown.
