Tumor ablation represents an increasingly important topic in pediatric interventional radiology. Many ablative techniques are well known and established in the adult population, and the adoption of these techniques in the pediatric field is increasing. Image-guided tumor ablation represents a wide category of interventional radiology procedures that can be applied to both benign and malignant pediatric solid tumors. Tumor ablation, either alone or in combination with locoregional therapy, can have curative, debulking, or palliative effects on a wide variety of histological tumor types.

Over the last two decades the development of small probes has enabled percutaneous use of cryotherapy. Cryotherapy, also known as cryoablation, enables the treatment of much larger lesions than other thermal ablation techniques, particularly when using multiple evenly spaced probes. Using rapid cooling to as low as -200 degrees Celsius (at the tip of the probe), reliable, and predictable necrosis can be induced.

Ultrasound echo decorrelation imaging can successfully monitor and control thermal ablation of animal liver and tumor tissue ex vivo and in vivo. However, normal and diseased human liver has substantially different physical properties that affect echo decorrelation. Here, effects of human liver tissue condition on ablation guidance by three-dimensional echo decorrelation imaging are elucidated in experiments testing closed-loop control of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in normal and diseased human liver tissue ex vivo.

Background And Objective: Utilizing AI to mine tumor microenvironment information in whole slide images (WSIs) for glioma molecular subtype and prognosis prediction is significant for treatment. Existing weakly-supervised learning frameworks based on multi-instance learning have potential in WSIs analysis, but the large number of patches from WSIs challenges the effective extraction of key local patch and neighboring patch microenvironment info. Therefore, this paper aims to develop an automatic neural network that effectively extracts tumor microenvironment information from WSIs to predict molecular typing and prognosis of glioma.
