We report a case of Acanthamoeba infection in an HCT recipient with steroid-refractory GVHD. We highlight the multiple challenges that free-living ameba infections present to the clinician, the clinical laboratory, transplant infectious disease for review, hospital epidemiology if nosocomial transmission is considered, and public health officials, as exposure source identification can be a significant challenge. Transplant physicians should include Acanthamoeba infections in their differential diagnosis of a patient with skin, sinus, lung, and/or brain involvement.

Background: Adoptive therapy with umbilical cord blood (UCB) T-regulatory (Treg) cells can prevent graft vs. host disease (GVHD). We hypothesize that UCB Tregs can treat GVHD and synergize with ruxolitinib, Jak2 inhibitor, to improve outcomes.

Introduction: CAR T-cell therapy is highly effective, but also associated with unique toxicities. Because of the origin of T cells in patients who previously underwent allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (alloHCT), graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in the post-CAR T-cell setting poses a relevant concern but is only scarcely studied. Unlabelled: Purpose of the study We investigated the incidence of chronic pulmonary complications in allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) recipients and analyzed the role of transbronchial cryobiopsy (cryoTBB) as a tool to determine the nature of pulmonary changes and to guide clinical decisions.

Methods: Patients who survived at least 6 months post HCT were included in the study. Pulmonary functional tests (PFTs) were performed in all patients as a screening tool.
