Article Abstract

Introduction: The rate of urbanisation in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) has increased remarkably, with the urban population expected to double by 2050. This rapid urbanisation, industrialisation and climate change pose serious public health challenges resulting from increased heat waves and other environmental changes. Urban greening holds promise as a climate change mitigation and adaptation strategy, leading to biodiversity conservation and enhancing the physical, mental and social well-being of the population.

Methods And Analysis: This scoping review aims to identify and synthesise studies that investigated the availability and utilisation of green spaces, the factors that affect the utilisation of green spaces as well as the health impacts of urban greening in SSA. A systematic search will be conducted across multiple databases (MEDLINE, PubMed, JSTOR, SCOPUS and Green FILE) and grey literature sources for papers published up to 2024, in line with established scoping review frameworks. The data will be charted and extracted based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses, Extension for Scoping Reviews. We will further synthesise and use thematic analysis to fully understand the relationship between urban greening and population health in SSA.

Ethics And Dissemination: Ethical approval will not be required because primary data will not be collected for the study. The results of this study come from published articles, which are publicly available. The results of the review will be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal for publication and presented at workshops and conferences.

Registration: The scoping review protocol has been registered on the Open Science Framework https://osf.io/nfh68.

The development and modification of grouting materials constitute crucial factors influencing the effectiveness of grouting. Given the pivotal role of water in the hydration of cement-based composite materials and construction processes, this study proposes an exploratory approach using green, economical magnetized water technology to enhance the performance of cement grouts. The research systematically investigates the effects of magnetized water on the fundamental grouting properties (stability, rheological behavior, and stone body strength) of cement grouts, prepared under varying magnetization conditions (including magnetic intensity, water flow speed, and cycle times).

Spatio-temporal variation of air quality and its driving factors in Jinan and Qingdao during 2014-2022.

J Hazard Mater

December 2024

School of Environmental and Municipal Engineering, Qingdao University of Technology, Qingdao 266520, China. Electronic address:

Over the past 20 years, urbanization of Shandong Province has strongly supported the rapid growth and sustained transformation of economy, however, this region has suffered from serious atmospheric pollution due to intense human activity. Identifying and qualifying the spatio-temporal variation of air pollution and its driving forces of Shandong Province would help in the formulation of effective mitigation policies. A deep understanding of the coupling relationship between air quality and socioeconomic drivers was essential for evaluating the quality of urbanization and long term sustainability.

High-energy nuclear collisions create a quark-gluon plasma, whose initial condition and subsequent expansion vary from event to event, impacting the distribution of the eventwise average transverse momentum [P([p_{T}])]. Disentangling the contributions from fluctuations in the nuclear overlap size (geometrical component) and other sources at a fixed size (intrinsic component) remains a challenge. This problem is addressed by measuring the mean, variance, and skewness of P([p_{T}]) in ^{208}Pb+^{208}Pb and ^{129}Xe+^{129}Xe collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.

Emerging frontiers of nickel-aluminium layered double hydroxide heterojunctions for photocatalysis.

Dalton Trans

January 2025

National Forestry and Grassland Administration Key Laboratory of Plant Fiber Functional Materials, College of Materials Engineering, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Fuzhou 350002, China.

The unique benefits of nickel-aluminium layered double hydroxide (Ni-Al LDH)-based heterojunctions, including large surface area, tunable bandgap and morphology, abundant reaction sites, and high activity, selectivity, and photostability, make them extremely promising for photocatalytic applications. Given the importance and benefits of Ni-Al LDH-based heterojunctions in photocatalysis, it is necessary to provide a summary of Ni-Al LDH-based heterojunctions for photocatalytic applications. Hence, in this review, we thoroughly described the material design for Ni-Al LDH-based heterojunctions, along with their recent developments in various photocatalytic applications, , H evolution, CO reduction, and pollutant removal.
