The periodic lateral migration of submicrometer cells is the primary factor leading to low precision in a spiral microchannel during cell isolation. In this study, a mathematical predictive model (PM) is derived for the lateral position of cells during the periodic lateral migration process. We analyze the relationship of migration period, migration width, and starting point of lateral migration with microchannel structure and flow conditions and determine the empirical coefficients in PM. Results indicate that the aspect ratio of the microchannel and the Reynolds number () are key factors that influence the periodicity of the cell lateral migration. The lateral migration width is jointly affected by , the cell blockage ratio, and the microchannel curvature radius. The inlet structure of the microchannel and the ratio of the cell sample to the sheath flow rate are critical parameters for regulating the initial position. Moreover, the structure of the pressure field at the inlet constrains the distribution range of the starting point of the lateral migration. Regardless of whether the particles/cells undergo 0.5, 1, or multiple lateral migration cycles, the lateral positions predicted by PM align well with the experimental observations, thus verifying the accuracy of PM. This research helps to elucidate the characteristics of periodic lateral migration of cells in spiral microchannels and can provide practical guidance for the development and optimization of miniature spiral microchannel chips for precise cell isolation.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical and radiologic outcomes following supramalleolar osteotomy for early varus ankle arthritis with the medial translation of the talus, wherein the lateral translation of the talus center to the tibial axis was used as a correction target. Another aim was to compare the results between the ankles with a normal range of medial distal tibial angle (MDTA) and overcorrected MDTA at the postoperative period to investigate the role of overcorrected MDTA after the supramalleolar osteotomy.

Methods: The study comprised 90 patients (93 ankles) with Takakura stage 2 or 3a varus ankle arthritis with the medial translation of the talus, which underwent medial opening supramalleolar osteotomy with fibular osteotomy, and the mean duration of follow-up was 50.

The Chepaizi Uplift, situated on the western edge of the Junggar Basin in northwestern China, has recently become a significant target area for in situ leach sandstone-type uranium exploration. The Neogene Shawan Formation, a newly identified uranium-bearing layer, has gained considerable attention for its potential. This study utilizes scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), whole-rock geochemistry, and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) of uranium minerals.

This case report presents an incident of spontaneous migration of a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) into the azygos vein, leading to accidental transection during surgery. A patient with esophageal cancer had a PICC placed in the left upper arm one day prior to surgery, with the catheter tip confirmed by intracavitary electrocardiogram (IC-ECG) and anterior/lateral chest X-ray imaging. However, during the surgery, the PICC was unintentionally cut when the surgeon isolated and clamped the azygos vein.

A reconfigurable memristor diode based on a CuInPS/graphene lateral heterojunction.

Nanoscale

School of Physics, Henan Key Laboratory of Advanced Semiconductor & Functional Device Integration, Henan Normal University, Xinxiang, 453007, China.

The conventional reconfiguration of transistors requires an additional independent terminal for controllable gate input, which complicates the device structure and makes circuit integration difficult. In this work, we propose a reconfigurable diode based on a 2D layered copper indium thiophosphate (CIPS) and graphene (Gr) van der Waals lateral heterojunction, exhibiting distinctively bias-dependent reconfiguration. The reconfiguration characteristics include reversible memristive behaviors with a current on/off ratio of about 10 and switchable rectifying polarity with a rectifying ratio of up to 3 × 10.
