Chemotherapy-induced diminished murine ovarian reserve model and impact of low-dose chemotherapy on fertility.

F S Sci

January 2025

Gynecology Research Unit, Institut de Recherche Expérimentale et Clinique, Université Catholique de Louvain, Brussels, Belgium; Gynecology Department, Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc, Brussels, Belgium. Electronic address:

Objective: To establish a murine model of chemotherapy-induced diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) and investigate residual fertility after chemotherapy exposure.

Design: Two different chemotherapy protocols were tested to establish a valid DOR model by comparing follicle densities in mice given either protocol versus physiological solution. An ovarian stimulation protocol was then selected from among different gonadotropins by counting the number of day-2 embryos obtained from normal mice.

Background: In Africa, the scale-up of malaria-control interventions has reduced malaria burden, but progress towards elimination has stalled. Mass drug administration (MDA) is promising as a transmission-reducing strategy, but evidence from low-to-moderate transmission settings is needed. We aimed to assess the safety, coverage, and effect of three cycles of MDA with dihydroartemisinin-piperaquine plus single, low-dose primaquine on Plasmodium falciparum incidence and prevalence in southeast Senegal.

Aim: To assess transmural remission in patients with Crohn's disease using low-dose small bowel computed tomography (CT) perfusion scans.

Materials And Methods: Forty six patients were divided into active and remission phases based on Crohn's Disease Activity Index (CDAI) and C-reactive protein (CRP). Dual-source CT enterography with low-dose perfusion scans was conducted to generate perfusion parameter maps, including blood flow (BF), blood volume (BV), time to peak (TTP), mean transit time (MTT), and permeability of surface (PS).

Introduction: The study objective was to describe characteristics and utilization patterns of tirzepatide users with type 2 diabetes (T2D) using the Healthcare Integrated Research Database in the USA.

Methods: Adults (≥18 years) included had T2D diagnosis; ≥1 tirzepatide claim (May 2022-January 2023; first claim date = index date); and continuous medical and pharmacy enrollment during the 6-month baseline and follow-up periods from the index date. Baseline demographics, clinical characteristics, and 6-month follow-up dosing and treatment patterns were summarized descriptively.

As median age of patients with acute myeloid leukemia is 72 years, older patients continue to be a vulnerable cohort representing significant challenges in clinical practice. Patient-specific comorbidities as well as leukemia-specific unfavorable molecular- and cytogenetics confer even poorer outcomes. Treatment of AML therefore needs to be less toxic to prevent harm while lowering or eradicating leukemic burden to prolong survival.
