Compared with long bone that arises from the mesoderm, the major portion of the maxillofacial bones and the front bone of the skull are derived from cranial neural crest cells and undergo intramembranous ossification. Human skeletal stem cells have been identified in embryonic and fetal long bones. Here, we describe a single-cell atlas of the human embryonic mandible and identify a population of cranio-maxillofacial skeletal stem cells (CMSSCs).

Due to a global shortage of nursing staff, there is renewed attention on the impact of leadership and management styles on the sustainability of the nursing workforce. Emotional intelligence (EI), the ability to manage both your own emotions and to perceive and understand the emotions of others, has been implicated as a nursing management style impacting reduced turnover and greater nurse wellbeing. Despite these promising findings, there is a dearth of research on the role of emotionally intelligent leadership on the retention of mental health nurses.

Home dialysis: there's no place like home.

Purpose Of Review: The rapid rise in incidence and prevalence of end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) over the past 50 years was matched by a drop-off in use of home dialysis and a proliferation of in-center hemodialysis across the United States. There is renewed interest in improving access to home dialysis modalities for patients with ESKD. The aim of this review is to update kidney care providers with clinical outcome data and new guidelines that promote patient-centered choices, and to address barriers to home dialysis uptake and continued use.
