Small rodents can cause problems on farms such as infrastructure damage, crop losses or pathogen transfer. The latter threatens humans and livestock alike. Frequent contacts between wild rodents and livestock favour pathogen transfer and it is therefore important to understand the movement patterns of small mammals in order to develop strategies to prevent damage and health issues.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex autoimmune disease with a number of immunological aberrations in the mechanisms of innate and adaptive immune responses. Spontaneous and induced mouse models of the disease have contributed significantly to the advancement in lupus treatments. The involvement of humanized models, engrafted with lupus patients' immune cells, represented the possibility to study the development of SLE.

Optimizing qubit performance through smoothing techniques.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Artificial Intelligence Technology Scientific and Education Center, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, 105005, Moscow, Russia.

This study explores an approach to enhance the performance of qubits by leveraging signal smoothing algorithms applied to qubit chips. The primary aim is to mitigate experimental variability and enhance overall stability, tied to the improvement of the Hamiltonian spectrum. By optimizing qubit operation through smoothing techniques, data processing for subsequent stages of two-tone qubit spectroscopy data transformation is facilitated.

CuZnSn(S,Se) (CZT(S,Se)) thin films exhibit the characteristics necessary to be effective absorbers in solar cells. In this report, the room temperature experimental Raman scattering spectra, recorded at different excitation wavelengths, are systematically analyzed theoretically using the results of DFT harmonic frequencies calculations at the Γ-point for various modifications of kesterite (KS), stannite (ST), and pre-mixed Cu-Au (PMCA) crystal structures. The specific anharmonism-induced features in the spectra of CZT(S,Se) crystals are identified, and the spectral lineshapes at varied strengths of anharmonic interaction are simulated.

This study aimed to test age-related changes in sternal fusion and sternal-rib cartilage ossification on multi-slice computed tomography (MSCT) images of the Croatian population. The additional aim was to develop models to estimate age and provide an interface for the model's application and validation. This retrospective study was conducted on 144 MSCT images of the sternal region, and the developed models were tested on 36 MSCT images.
