A systematic investigation was conducted to synthesize hybrid composite materials that use synthetic poly--vinylpyrrolidone and natural (agar-agar) macromolecules with plasticizers (PEG-400) and mineral filler shungite by means of electron irradiation. The XRD and SEM data showed that the structure of the resulting hybrid composites is an interpenetrating network with distributed particles of mineral component. It has been established that the mechanical properties of hybrid composites are determined mainly by the structural organization of the interpenetrating polymer network formed under electron irradiation of the initial synthetic and natural polymer mixture in the presence of plasticizers, as well as by the conditions for intercalation of polymer segments into the mineral matrix and vice versa. It has been revealed that the degree of swelling of hybrid composites strongly depends on the concentration of a low-molecular plasticizer in the polymeric interpenetrating network, which easily impregnates into the matrix of shungite. Successfully obtained [PVP-AA-PEG] hydrogels with shungite can be applied in regenerative medicine as wound healing dressings.

Hybrid hydrogels are promising for wound dressing, tissue engineering, and drug delivery due to their exceptional biocompatibility and mechanical stability. This study synthesized hybrid hydrogels for photodynamic therapy using electron beam-initiated polymerization with varying PEGDA/gelatin ratios and irradiation doses to evaluate their effectiveness as uptake and release systems for five photosensitizers. Toluidine blue, O (TBO); methylene blue (MB); eosin, Y; indocyanine, green; and sodium meso-tetraphenylporphine-4,4',4″,4‴-tetrasulfonate were studied for their uptake and release dynamics in relation to their structural properties and the hydrogels' composition.

Key Laboratory of Marine Genetic Resources, Third Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources of China; Key Laboratory of Marine Genetic Resources of Fujian Province, Xiamen 361005, PR China.

Two Gram-stain-negative, motile, non-spore-forming, aerobic or facultative anaerobic and short rod-shaped bacterial strains, 25B02-3 and BH-R2-4, were isolated from surface seawater collected from the Bering Sea and Chukchi Sea, respectively. The 16S rRNA gene sequences of the two strains were identical. The phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that they were related to the genus and shared 99.

China General Microbiological Culture Collection Center (CGMCC), Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100101, PR China.

Five aerobic, Gram-stain-negative bacterial strains, designated as C3-2-a3, B3-2-R+30, C3-2-a4, C3-2-M3 and C3-2-M8, were isolated from the coastal soil of LungmuCo Lake in the Tibet Autonomous Region, PR China. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA genes and genomes indicated that these isolates belonged to the genus and showed a high similarity to LNNU 24178 (99.01%), RD2P54 (98.

We present a neo-Hookean elasticity theory for hybrid mechano-active hydrogels, integrating motor proteins into polymer meshes to create composite materials with active softening due to modulable chain overlaps. Focusing on polyacrylamide (PA) hydrogels embedded with FtsZ, a bacterial cytokinetic protein powered by GTP, we develop a multiscale model using microscopic Flory theory of rubbery meshes through mesoscopic De Gennes' scaling concepts for meshwork dynamics and phenomenological Landau's formalism for second-order phase transitions. Our theoretical multiscale model explains the active softening observed in hybrid FtsZ-PA hydrogels by incorporating modulable meshwork dynamics, such as overlapping functionality and reptation dynamics, into an active mean-field of unbinding interactions.

The structures and rotational constants of prototypical monocyclic terpenes and terpenoids have been analyzed by a general computational strategy based on recent Pisa composite schemes (PCS) and vibrational perturbation theory at second order (VPT2). Concerning equilibrium geometries, a one-parameter empirical correction is added to bond lengths obtained by the revDSD-PBEP86 double hybrid functional in conjunction with a slightly modified cc-pVTZ-F12 basis set. The same functional and basis set give accurate harmonic frequencies, whereas the cheaper B3LYP hybrid functional in conjunction with a double-ζ basis set is employed to compute the semidiagonal cubic force constants needed to obtain vibrational corrections to the rotational constants in the framework of the VPT2 model.
