Sleeve gastrectomy is a common bariatric procedure known for its safety and effectiveness, but postoperative complications like abscess formation, though rare, can occur. We report the case of a 37-year-old female who presented with atypical abdominal pain following a sleeve gastrectomy. Imaging revealed an abscess located away from the staple line. Surgical exploration and culture identified  as the causative organism. This case emphasizes the importance of vigilant postoperative monitoring and early intervention to prevent complications. Proper management, including antibiotics and surgical drainage, is crucial for patient recovery.

Summary: Oral levothyroxine (LT4) is prescribed worldwide for hypothyroidism. Bariatric surgery for patients with obesity has shown a substantial, long-term weight loss and considerable improvement of obesity-related diseases. LT4 malabsorption represents a significant cause of refractory hypothyroidism, well known after malabsorptive bariatric surgery such as Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.

While the prevalence of overweight and obesity is rising in Africa, the practice of bariatric surgery remains limited in our country, Cameroon. Weight loss outcomes following sleeve gastrectomy (SG), the most widely used bariatric surgery technique worldwide, have not yet been studied in our context. The medical records of all patients who underwent SG in our surgery department between January 1, 2016, and September 30, 2020, were reviewed retrospectively.

Background: Conversional surgery following sleeve gastrectomy (SG) is required in about 20 % of patients due to suboptimal outcomes. Single anastomosis duodenoileal bypass (SADI) has emerged as an option for such cases, though long-term outcomes remain unclear. This review analyzed available data on SADI as a conversional or second-stage procedure after SG.

Background: The prevalence of obesity has risen dramatically worldwide. Beyond its metabolic implications, obesity profoundly impacts sexual health, particularly in males, with erectile dysfunction (ED) emerging as a prevalent and distressing co-morbidity. Background: Classic congenital adrenal hyperplasia, primarily due to 21-hydroxylase deficiency, leads to impaired cortisol and aldosterone production and excess adrenal androgens. Lifelong glucocorticoid therapy is required, often necessitating supraphysiological doses in youth to manage androgen excess and growth acceleration. These patients experience higher obesity rates, hypertension, and glucose metabolism issues, complicating long-term health management.
